Shubman Gill of Gujarat Titans (GT) and Virat Kohli of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) engaged in some hilarious banter during their team’s recent IPL 2026 encounter. This game was played on April 30 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Shubman Gill had won the toss and chose to bowl first. Virat Kohli (28) and Devdutt Padikkal (40) did some damage control after GT dismissed Jacob Bethell early. RCB's opener Virat Kohli, came out all guns blazing and in the second over, took on GT’s ace pacer, Kagiso Rabada.
He took the might pacer and hit the South Africa for five boundaries in a row in the over and took control of the match and established his dominance over the encounter.
RCB makes GT work hard for their win
Virat Kohli was dismissed by Rabada in his very next over, which helped the squad regain equilibrium and increase their level of energy on the field. RCB just scored 155 runs and was never able to bounce back from frequent wicket losses.
Jos Buttler scored 39 runs in 19 deliveries, while Shubman Gill attacked the RCB bowlers with 43 runs in 18 balls. However, Romario Shepherd damaged the middle order after Bhuvneshwar Kumar stunned the GT batting with three wickets. Rahul Tewatia's 27* was the only reason GT won the match by four wickets in the sixteenth over.

Virat Kohli shows Shubman Gill ‘babaji ka thullu’ to mock him
Virat Kohli is a genuine performer, and Thursday night was no exception. He was completely at his best during the IPL 2026 match, from his lively conversation with the umpire and friendship with Ishant Sharma to his furious farewell to Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill.
During the match, Virat Kohli decided to have some fun with Shubman Gill and playfully teased him. He showed him the ‘Babaji ka thullu’ gesture to the GT captain, who was sitting in the dugout and watching the proceedings. Furthermore, Kohli mocked him by mimicking the catch he took to dismiss him.
In response, Gill asked Kohli to focus on the game. In his own way, Gill also signaled towards the scoreboard, saying to Kohli that, see, his team was losing and the Gujarat Titans were winning the game.
However, not the one to take things lying down, Kohli went further and mocked Gill about how he almost ran him out and how he was huffing and puffing while running between the wickets.
