10 IPL teams play in India’s biggest T20 tournament, but two are cut from a different cloth: The Mumbai Indians and the Chennai Super Kings. The two great franchises have won five IPL titles each and have been the most successful sides in the competition’s history.

Historically, some of the best players (both domestic and international) have played for both franchises in the IPL. While some have been excellent, others have crumbled under pressure.

On Wednesday, CREX published an article where we talked about the IPL players who delivered for CSK but couldn’t perform for MI. In this piece, we’ll analyse the players who were match-winners for the Mumbai Indians but crumbled while playing for CSK.

1) Harbhajan Singh

Harbhajan Singh is an IPL legend, and he is one of the few players who have played for both CSK and MI. The former Indian spinner has won the IPL, playing for both sides, but he has performed better when donning the Blue jersey of the Mumbai Indians.

Harbhajan played for CSK at the twilight of his career, and he failed to deliver the goods as the stats reveal the story.

  • The same cannot be said about his tenure with the Mumbai Indians. The former World Cup winner played 136 games for MI, and scalped 127 wickets, with an economy of just 6.99.
  • Yes, he played for CSK towards the twilight, but Harbhajan still had the experience, and he couldn’t replicate his MI days with CSK.

2) Parthiv Patel

Parthiv Patel was picked by CSK in the inaugural IPL season, and he used to open alongside the Australian great, Matthew Hayden. A player with brilliant technical skills, Parthiv was not known for T20 batting, and thus, his numbers suffered for them.

However, for MI, he rejuvenated, and the stats reveal the reality as the left-handed batter became a better player.
