Jai Moondra in practice for IND vs IRE T20Is. [Source- X.com/cricketireland]
Jai Moondra. Jai Moondra. Jai Moondra! He is everywhere. Born in Rajasthan, the left-arm quick became an overnight sensation after bagging the Player of the Series honours as Ireland whitewashed India 2-nil at home.
Moondra started his cricketing career back home in Tonk, but he migrated to Ireland for higher studies before settling down in the Northwestern European country. However, he started playing there and soon became an established name in the Irish set-up.
As he did well for Leinster in the domestic circuit, the Indian origin pacer was called up to face the Men in Blue. And boy, not only did he had a dreamy start with a first-ball wicket, but he demolished the T20 World Champions.
After performing well against the Men in Blue, the Jai Moondra stocks would skyrocket, as they usually do for any player who plays against India. Thus, the left-arm quick may get fast-tracked to IPL cricket thanks to a dream debut series.
In this article, we will discuss three franchises that may target Jai Moondra at the IPL 2027 mini-auctions.
IPL teams who may target Jai Moondra
1) Punjab Kings
Punjab Kings have all the weapons on paper, even though they didn't do too well in IPL 2026. They started the previous season with a bang, but as they began losing, there was no coming back.
PBKS’ bowling was rather disappointing, despite having overseas talent such as Marco Jansen, Xavier Bartlett, Ben Dwarshuis, and Lockie Ferguson in their ranks. As none of them could deliver for the Kings, one can expect the franchise to let go of a couple of their foreign quicks, if not most of them.

If Punjab take the bold call ahead of the IPL 2027 mini-auctions, it could open the door for a seamer like Jai Moondra. Moreover, with Shreyas Iyer at PBKS, he may vouch for the Ireland pacer himself, as India were demolished by Moondra under Iyer’s captaincy.
2) Kolkata Knight Riders
After Matheesha Pathirana left Kolkata Knight Riders in a tough spot, the franchise would look to have backups. In the absence of Pathirana, the three-time champions gambled on Blessing Muzarabani, but it didn't pay off.
Additionally, KKR need to solve the Mustafizur Rahman puzzle after the Bangladesh seamer wasn't allowed to participate this year by the BCCI.
Moreover, there was no fast bowler who even did well, even in phases, for the Knight Riders, apart from Kartik Tyagi. Thus, they would need to fill in the gaps, meaning there can be a space for Jai Moondra, who would love bowling in the assisting conditions at the Eden Gardens.
3) Mumbai Indians
The Mumbai Indians had a dreadful campaign in IPL 2026 under the leadership of Hardik Pandya. The five-time champions failed in all three aspects of the game, but it was bowling that let MI down the most.
Jasprit Bumrah was the biggest concern as he returned with just four wickets in 13 innings. Moreover, the performances from the likes of Deepak Chahar, Trent Boult, and Shardul Thakur were substandard, to say the least.
It is highly likely that MI will be undergoing a rebuild ahead of the IPL mini-auctions. Thus, a talent like Jai Moondra could be under the radar of their scouting team.
