7:07 AM IST & 11:37 AM Local Time| It was a praiseworthy performance by Australia A in the four-day Test against India A at Mackay as the Nathan McSweeney-led side have comprehensively defeated India A by 7 wickets and take the lead in the two-match series 1-0.
Here is the recap of the Test match. Nathan McSweeney won the toss and opted to bowl first on a surface that had some grass covering which would assist the seamers in the first couple of days. It was a brilliant toss to win for the Aussies as their seamers were right on the money from ball 1. With the Border Gavaskar coming up in a couple of weeks time, it was important for the Indian batters to show their skills on a challenging surface at Mackay.
Poor display with the bat from India A in their first innings as they lost wickets in regular intervals and failed to build up a decent partnership at the middle. The highest one being for the 4th wicket between Devdutt Padikkal and Baba Indrajith, as the pair added 39 runs together.
Left-handed batter, Devdutt Padikkal (36) was the top scorer in the Innings for India A who were bundled out for 107 runs in just 47.4 overs. Brendan Doggett was the pick of the bowlers for the Hosts as he recorded his career best figures of 6/15.
Australia A walked out to bat in the Afternoon session and it wasn't getting easier to bat as the Indian seamers made full use of it and got themselves to a solid start with the ball.
Then came in Skipper, Nathan McSweeney (39) to the rescue along with Beau Webster (33) and Cooper Connolly (37) as the middle order of Australia A went past the India A total and got their side a first innings lead.
India A fought back really well in the next morning on Day 2 and bowled out Australia A for 195/10 in 62.4 overs. Handy knock from the off-spinner Todd Murphy (33) down the order helped the Aussies get a crucial first innings lead of 88 runs.
India A had to bat well in their 2nd innings to make a strong comeback in this fixture. Once again both the openers of India A went back to the pavilion cheaply and the visitors were in a spot of bother early on in their 2nd innings with the bat.
Then came in the mammoth partnership between the two lefties, Sai Sudharsan and Devdutt Padikkal. The duo batted throughout the 2nd day's play and took their side into a really comfortable position as at the end of Day 2, India A were 208/2 with a lead of 120 runs.
Day 3 was a really important day for both the sides as the Hosts received a blow before the start of the day's play as their seamer, Jordan Buckingham did not take the field as he was suffering from a side strain.
Sai Sudharsan was 4 runs away from his first hundred in Australian soil which he completed with ease in the first hour or Day 3 and was dismissed straight after his ton by Todd Murphy for 103.
All of a sudden the collapse began for India A as from 226/2 they were bowled out for 312 runs in exact 100 overs. Despite being a bowler short, Australia A fought back really well and restricted the lead of India A below 250. Fergus O'Neill (4/55) was the pick of the bowlers for the Aussies in the 2nd innings as they required to chase down 225 runs in their 2nd innings with the bat.
It was a solid start from the Australia A batters as they kept building small partnerships at the middle. From 85/3 at one stage, Skipper, Nathan McSweeney (47*) and Beau Webster (19*) settled at the middle and batted through the remaining overs of Day 3 as Australia A required 86 more runs to win with 7 wickets in hand moving into the final day of the Test match.
The duo of Nathan McSweeney (88*) and Beau Webster (61*) continued from where they left yesterday as they comfortably chase down the remaining 86 runs today and remained unbeaten at the middle. India A were really sloppy with the ball and especially in the field today as Australia A comfortably chased down the target and won the first Test of the two-match series by 7 wickets.

4 FOURRR!! There it is! The Australia A skipper finished off in style. A comprehensive win for the hosts who win by 7 wickets. Short ball yet again from Sudharsan, McSweeney will not miss out on that, rocks back and pulls it hard to the mid wicket fence for a boundary.

2 Flatter delivery wide outside off, width offered as McSweeney hangs back, plays it really late, guides it past the left of backward point for a couple of runs.
