Australia U-19 displayed absolute dominance in the summit clash, defeating the defending champions, India U-19, by 79 runs to secure their fourth U-19 World Cup title. Time to wrap up this coverage, folks! For now, this is Deepak Prakash signing off on behalf of co-commentator Sidharth Gulati and scorer/analyst Dushyant Madhukar Kumar. CHEERS!
Hugh Weibgen, the Australian skipper now receives the trophy 🏆 and his teammates join him for the celebration and photographs.
Hugh Weibgen (Australia U-19 Captain):"You know, I'm just so proud of the group of boys and the coaches. A lot of work's gone into this in the past few months and over the last year, so couldn't be prouder. We just knew that we had to try and do it well. When we have a pace bowling attack like ours, there's a fair bit of confidence when you get 250 on the board. So that was our plan, to get a few runs and back ourselves to defend it.
He [Harjas] is a quality player, and credit goes to the coaches for standing by him. He truly justified their faith in him today. India is a formidable team; they dominated the entire tournament but ended up on the wrong side today. I believe these players have a bright future ahead. They understand their roles as a team so well, and I'm confident they will achieve great things in their careers."
Australia U19's players receive their medals.
Uday Saharan (India U-19 Captain):"I am proud of the boys, they played really well. We displayed great fighting spirit throughout the tournament. We played a few rash shots today, and didn't spend time in the middle. Despite being prepared, we couldn't execute our plans as we hoped. However, we've gained valuable lessons from this tournament, both from our support staff and during the matches themselves. We'll continue to learn and strive for improvement."
Indian team receive their runners-up medals.
Kwena Maphaka (Player of the Tournament): "Really means a lot. Worked hard for it. I worked on my inswinger. It brought a lot of success. A lot of hard to do. It'll be amazing if I can play for South Africa."
