Born in Dogra, Ritu Moni is an exemplary all-rounder who was coached by Muslim Uddin, who set up a sports camp for young girls and boys in their hometown.
Moni made her ODI debut nine years ago against Pakistan on August 20th, 2012. Serving as an all-rounder, she failed to get on the wickets chart but impressed everyone with her batting skills in the short stint of 23 runs. A week later she played her maiden T20I match against Ireland on August 28th, 2012.
After a string of impressive performances in the 2018 T20 World Cup qualifiers and 2019 Women’s Asia Cup, she was named in the squad for the 2020 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup held in Australia. The sudden demise of her childhood coach Muslim Uddin fueled a purpose for Moni in the prestigious tournament. Moni achieved her career-best figure of 4 for 18 in the semi-finals loss against New Zealand.
With the willow in hand, Moni is destructive down the order but has had less opportunity to bat in T20s.
