Ramesh Powar is an orthodox off-spinner who believes in flight, guile, deception in the air and turn off the pitch. A veteran of 14 domestic seasons, the 33-year-old is still a regular in the Mumbai side. In his 94 appearances for Mumbai, Powar has picked up 316 wickets and has scored over 3,000 runs batting in the lower order.
Even in this era of Twenty20 cricket – when spin bowlers switch to bowling flat – Powar sticks to his tried-and-tested formula of flighting the ball. He has also included the away-going delivery to his repertoire now. He will be back with the Kings XI Punjab in IPL 2012.
