Ethan Carl D’Souza is one of the most promising young cricketers in the United Arab Emirates. A left-handed batter and occasional right-arm off-break bowler, he has risen quickly through the ranks from academy cricket to the national team.
Ethan’s cricketing journey began at just three years old, when his father introduced him to the game. He was nurtured at the Zayed Cricket Academy, where he became known for his dedication and discipline. In November 2022, at the age of just 16, he created history by becoming the youngest player to represent Team Abu Dhabi in the Abu Dhabi T10 league. On debut, he displayed composure beyond his years and marked the occasion with a smart catch in the field.
Ethan is one of the few players in the current UAE team set-up who have been born and raised in the Emirates as well.
In May 2023, Ethan captained Team Abu Dhabi to victory in the U19 ECB Inter-Emirates tournament, scoring a match-winning 89 in the final. His leadership and batting earned widespread praise, and soon after, he was drafted into the UAE senior squad. On June 9, 2023, he made his ODI debut against the West Indies, a landmark moment in his career. Later, in May 2025, the 2006-born cricketer made his T20I debut against Bangladesh in Sharjah.
Since making his international debut, he has featured in UAE squads for major competitions, including the Cricket World Cup Qualifiers, T20I series against New Zealand, and the ACC Under-19 Asia Cup. Off the field, Ethan completed his schooling from Abu Dhabi Indian School- Al Wathba in 2024 and scored 80% in his class XII CBSE board exams despite missing out on a lot of classes due to his cricket commitments.
At just 19, Ethan Carl D’Souza embodies talent, composure, and leadership, making him one of the UAE’s brightest cricketing prospects.
