A quality spin bowling all-rounder, Erin Alexandra Burns plays for New South Wales in the Australian domestic circuit.
Unable to seal a place in NSW’s First XI, Burns opted to play for Tasmania Roar in 2009, straightaway making an impact by winning the 2009–10 Tasmanian Roar Player of the Year award.
The talented off-spinner made her entry into the inaugural season of Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) in 2015 with Hobart Hurricanes.
The Wollongong-born switched sides in the 2017-18 edition and began to play for Sydney Sixers. She garnered 285 runs and bagged four wickets in the season. The handy contributor followed it by mustering 250 runs and dismissing 11 batters in the subsequent edition.
The consistent performances in the WBBL and domestic circuit helped Burns to make her ODI and T20I debuts for Australia in September 2019. She was also a part of the champion Australian team in the T20 World Cup 2020.
However, due to the stiff competition in the Australian line-up, the 34-year-old has featured in only a solitary ODI and five T20Is to date. In 103 WBBL appearances, she has 1,606 runs and 39 wickets to her name.
Burns featured for Birmingham Phoenix in the 2021 edition of the Women’s Hundred and racked up 156 runs and scalped seven wickets. In 2022, she was traded to Manchester Originals Women.
Burns was in the limelight when Royal Challengers Bangalore Women (RCB-W) secured her services for INR 30 Lakhs to feature in the inaugural Women’s Premier League (WPL).
