For the first time in the history of the WCPL, we will have a final without Barbados Tridents Women. One could say that, perhaps, the change of name from Barbados Royals Women didn't bring the kind of luck they wanted. However, in reality, the three-time defending champions left a bit to be desired with the kind of cricket they played.
Chloe Tryon (Guyana Amazon Warriors Women captain): "(Her thoughts on the performance) It was good. First thing the toss. It was obviously good for us. With the rain around, it was always going to be a bit sticky. Happy to have won that and then, to have restricted the runs. We did not need to do something special there. I think every single bowler put their hand up there. To come out and bat like that was incredible. Kudos to the team. Just one more step to go. But we want to enjoy every single moment.
It just feels like it has been all-round (performance) today. No one likes the rain. We had to wait. But we were very calm. Rain delays can be boring. You need to switch on really quickly. I thought we did that well. We just spoke really positive throughout the group and then, Tazmin Brits coming up front there. Happy with the job, but it is not done yet.
(On the role of coach Shakera Selman) I have played against Shakera Selman for a very long time. To see her as a coach and the way she has developed as a coach has been incredible. Really refreshing to work with her. We have worked hard to put this group together. We did not start on the right note. But it is coming together at the right time.
(Message to her team before the final) Enjoy this moment. I know it is a short game. But take the goods out of it. Always feel like you can improve on the one-percenters. But we reflect on that tonight and come back tomorrow."

Hayley Kristen Matthews (Barbados Tridents Women Captain): "(Thoughts on the match) Yeah reduced game is always difficult. We do not think we did bad with the bat, but we could have done better. Probably could have got a few more runs. We did not get the start we wanted but did well to catch up. Then with the ball, I do not think we did worst. Shemaine Campbelle and Tazmin Brits got a few away and kudos to them for the explosive way they batted.
(Thoughts on your strategies around the opening partnership) Well we were with the same thing. Qiana Joseph is quite an explosive player, but she did not get going today. I think she was really good. You know that is the game of cricket. It will not always go your way and that was just it today.
(Did you think about taking first strike today?) I think it was a case where her role was to go explosive. She tried from ball one today, but that did not happen. Her approach was really good.
(A reflection on the season) Probably we would have liked to have some more wins on the board. As a group, as a batting group we did well to get the totals, but probably did not do well with the ball it seems. I think in the starts we could have done well as the statistics show, but this is a new group that we brought. I think we lost ten different players from the last season. A lot of new faces were there, the culture, the vibe, the energy within the team was good. Everyone who came in gave their 100% every time. They played for the fans and the Tridents badge. Happy to go there for the Tridents and hopefully next time we will go better."

Tazmin Brits (Player of the Match): "(On the weight of the game) We definitely did sense it, I'm not going to lie, I was kind of hoping the rain continues. Everyone wants to go to the final, no matter how you get there, although we want to always play cricket, but I'd like to take a final any day. I was trying to do the rain dance inside the locker room, clearly it didn't happen, but I'm glad we got a game.
(On her knock and the partnerships) I feel very comfortable, even with Ebs (Brathwaite), she didn't come off today, but I always know that they take the pressure off me. Same thing when Campbelle comes in, her strike rotation is great. I wish I could tell you exactly what I did, don't really know, I'd just try to select the ball, be more selective with the wind and everything, maybe just running hard between the wickets, but it was nice, wasn't just me hitting boundaries, my partner on the other side contributed to that so that made it very easy.
(On being POTM in such a crucial match) It's always great to contribute. Not to be funny, but whoever sticks up their hand, as long as we win as a team, I'm happy with that. Glad to contribute towards that.

10:36 PM IST, 1:06 PM local time: Until last Sunday, Guyana Amazon Warriors Women had never defeated Barbados Tridents Women ever in the history of the WCPL! And now, three days later, they have not only done that twice, but also delivered the knock out punch to the three-time defending champions. Tryon and co. head into the grande finale with their confidence sky-high.
It is hard to look back and point out a moment where the Tridents were ahead in the game. Following a long delay due to inclement weather, they were put into bat and just could not get going. Qiana Joseph tried swinging her bat as hard as she could, but failed to find the connection she was desperately after. Post scoring 3 (12), she had to be retired out.
Hayley Matthews tried to up the ante on her way to 22 (14). She even got a second life — Sheneta Grimmond had overstepped to deliver a ball which had got her caught behind square leg — and a third too – stumped off a free hit against Erin Burns — but could not convert it into something big. It was Maddy Green's effervescent 30* (16) that propelled them to a respectable 8-over score of 69/4.
