For now, it has been an absolute pleasure bringing you this unforgettable final. This is Arijit Kundu, on behalf of my co-commentators Mohammad Anab and Saptak Sanyal, and our scorer SahilKhan. Good night!!
Now in a couple of hours time, Guyana Amazon Warriors' men's team will lock horns with Antigua & Barbuda Falcons for the first Qualifier of CPL 2026. Do join us for that game.
What a way to end a historic WCPL final! The Guyana Amazon Warriors have finally climbed the summit, and Chedean Nation has delivered the perfect finishing touch with that towering six. From heartbreak to redemption, the Warriors have created history tonight. After a couple of weeks, the WCPL comes to an end. But its not the end of the CPL where there's plenty of stakes awaiting.
The Guyana Amazon Warriors Women receive their maiden WCPL trophy at the podium. The backroom staff can be seen as excited as the players. The cricketers are on their feet, twerking, and hooting in jubilation. This is a moment to cherish for them, and something that was due for a long time in WCPL history. Champagne's all around, skipper Tryon with the trophy, and she shares it with the other members of the side. What a moment to cherish!
Chloe Tryon (Guyana Amazon Warriors Captain): "(Chloe, you have done something that no one has been able to do for the Guyana Amazon Warriors, tell us about your emotions.) Yeah, I've got no words. I've got goosebumps to work with. This team has been so special and to walk away with this is even more special. So, so happy that I could leave them. And yeah, celebrations tonight, so yeah, it's gonna be awesome.
(Chloe, you gave us heart attacks in the stands. It was so exciting. Great start to the chase. And then wickets started falling.) Yeah, I think a bit of nerves got in there. I thought it was a really good wicket still and we were happy that we reduced them to 150. And yeah, we just spoke about partnership. I thought we had a good power play and then we kind of lost a little bit when I got stranded in the middle. I just said we're just gonna stay in as long as we can and take it as deep as we can. Unfortunately, I went out at the wrong time. But yeah, for her to still carry on and do that was pretty special. So, you know, look, it was an amazing game. A lot of heart attacks, but that's good.
(A quick word on Shakira Selman, who is a female head coach and has taken the Warriors to their first ever title. How influential and impactful was she?) So good. I think when she spoke to me about wanting to captain. Yeah, I've known her for 15 years. Really good friendship off the field and then for her to just want me there. And I said, I love working with you. I don't know how you are going to be as a coach, but yeah, it was really good. It was really special. Yeah. Grown a lot from being a player to a coach. So lovely to work with her and just really refreshing. And we pulled this group together. It feels like a bond off the field, helps on the field and yeah, we've just been having amazing memories and, you know, showed on the field today in the fight that we had.
(I think you have an idea now about who Warrior Nation is, a word for the fans.) Just incredible. The fans are absolutely amazing. Look, from when I first started to get so many people coming out to watch us, this amazing, amazing tournament to be part of. Love being in this place, such a good place to play cricket. So thank you to all the fans. You guys have been amazing and yeah, let the celebrations begin and we'll just—we'll watch it for the men and hopefully they can join us as well."
Time for the Champions medals now as GAW players receive their medals.
Deandra Dottin (Trinbago Knight Riders Women Captain): "(On the feelings) We played really good cricket. Just a couple of mistakes we made but I am happy with my group. We came on, we played the game, we tried to execute. We tried everything we needed to do for TKR, the family and the fans, but today was not our day.
(On her decision to bat first) I think the pitch looked really dry. We thought that if we use our variations well and keep the stumps in play, we will get the results.
(At some stage, you guys must felt that you had it in the bag) Yeah yeah. I did feel that way. We had it in the bag, yes. But that couple of mistakes cost us the game. All in all, like I said, I am still happy and proud of the way we played and proud of our group.
(Reflection on the season) I think I am very pleased about how we went. We always keep calm and support each other. Last year was not really good for us. The professionalism was good. But this time, we actually made some good changes and played some really good cricket. We kept our composure as well."
Trinbago Knight Riders Women cricketers are walking up one by one to the podium to receive their runners-up medals.
