Over the years the South African women’s team have produced some really good all-round players, and in the modern game, Anneke Bosch has cemented herself as one of the best in the game.
Bosch received a surprise call-up to the Proteas squad for their series against Australia in 2016. In a strange debut match, Australia needed 227 for the victory, and despite having Bosch as the sixth bowling option, the South African skipper, van Niekerk decided not to bowl her in the match as the Australian team eventually chased down the target with ease.
Bosch was named in the Terblanche XI squad for the inaugural edition of the Women’s T20 Super League held in South Africa in the year 2019.
After a decent season with both bat & the bowl in the T20 Super League, Bosch was selected in the T20I squad for the away series against India. She bowled just a solitary over in the match as the home side won the match convincingly.
The East London-born had struggled to keep her place in the shorter formats of the game, but in 2021 away series against India, Bosch contributed with both the bat & the bowl and blew away the Indian side in the first T20I of the series.
In the Indian innings, the all-rounder took 2 for 11 and restricted them to a total of 130 for 6, and when it came to the chase, Bosch slammed her maiden half-century in the shortest form of the game and scored an unbeaten 66 to propel South Africa to victory.
Ever since her debut in 2016, Bosch has gone from strength to strength in the limited-overs cricket. Riding high on an impressive away series against India, Bosch will look to continue her good form in the upcoming international series.
