A skilful right-arm pacer, Marufa Akter represents the Bangladesh international team. She was born on January 01, 2005 at Nilphamari, and comes from a poor background.
During the pandemic, she got busy farming with her father and then returned to the cricket field. In the 2021 edition of the Women's Zonal One Day Competition, Akter picked two wickets in four matches, while playing for the Southern team.
She wreaked havoc to emerge as the leading wicket-taker with 23 scalps in 11 matches for Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan in the 2021-22 Dhaka Premier Division Women's Cricket League.
In seven appearances of Women's National Cricket League 2022-23, the wily pacer bagged 13 wickets at an efficient economy of 2.76.
The consistent performances earned her a national call-up in the 2022 Women’s T20 Qualifier squad. The 17-year-old featured in the warm-up match against UAE Women and returned with figures of 0/16 in two overs.
Akter is one of the Standby players of the Bangladesh team in the Women’s Asia Cup 2022.
