Player Bio

Born in Pietermaritzburg, Sarel Erwee is left-handed batsman, and a right-arm off break bowler, who plays for KwaZulu Natal, and is yet to play a match for the Proteas. Erwee made his domestic debut in 2008 and had a poor start to his career as he was dismissed after scoring just one run.

Erwee has been a stalwart for his domestic team over the past decade. He has piled up runs heavily and has been the most consistent performer in the domestic arena.

In the 2017/18 Ram Slam T20 Challenge, Erwee slammed his maiden T20 ton against the Cape Cobras. His innings had a great pattern to it. Erwee took his time initially, but once he got his eye in, the destructive batter took the Cobra’s apart with his big hitting.

In December 2020, Erwee was finally rewarded with a Test call-up to play against Sri Lanka, but he did not feature in any of the matches.

A late bloomer, Erwee has done well in the domestic circuit. He is an aggressive player who likes to play on the back foot.
