With each passing day, several state-level cricket tournaments are taking place across India, and one such tournament that has been in the limelight is the Sher-e-Punjab T20 Cup 2026. The league is already creating a lot of excitement ahead of its inaugural season.
The Sher-e-Punjab T20 2026 auction was held on Sunday, August 9, and Ludhiana all-rounder Sanvir Singh emerged as the most expensive player, even ahead of Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill.
The inaugural Sher-e-Punjab T20 league will be played from August 30 to September 13, 2026, at the PCA International Cricket Stadium in Mohali.
Who Is Sanvir Singh? Meet The Most Expensive Player Of Sher-e-Punjab T20 Auction 2026
Fazilka Falcons signed Sanvir Singh for Rs 13.20 lakh, and he will now play alongside marquee player and India captain Shubman Gill. He was born on October 12, 1996, in Ludhiana, Punjab.
Sanvir is a right-handed batter and a right-arm medium-pace bowler. He represents Punjab in domestic cricket and has played in the Ranji Trophy, Vijay Hazare Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
He has also had an IPL stint with Sunrisers Hyderabad. In the 2026 IPL auction, Sanvir Singh was listed at a base price of Rs 30 lakh but went unsold.
Sanvir has played 46 T20 matches and scored 560 runs at an average of 32.94 and a blistering strike rate of 180.06. Thus, Sanvir's T20 record suggests he has been explosive as a middle-order batter and will offer Fazilka Falcons a destructive finishing option in their lineup.
Sanvir has been useful with the ball as well. In 23 T20 innings, he has bagged 13 wickets and could serve as a handy bowling option for the Falcons in the inaugural Sher-e-Punjab T20 league.

Why Is Sanvir Singh's Price More Than Abhishek Sharma And Shubman Gill?
The biggest talking point is that Sanvir Singh’s auction price is above the amount assigned to the league's marquee players.
Shubman Gill, Abhishek Sharma, Arshdeep Singh, Prabhsimran Singh, Ramandeep Singh and Gurnoor Brar were the marquee names, and their price was fixed at INR 10 lakh.
Therefore, Sanvir, who entered the auction, created bidding wars between several franchises due to his invaluable all-round expertise, eventually securing a more lucrative deal worth INR 13.20 lakh than the likes of Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma.
Why Is Sher-E-Punjab T20 League An Important Opportunity For Sanvir Singh?
For Sanvir Singh, the inaugural Sher-e-Punjab T20 2026 is a crucial platform to make a long-lasting impression in Punjab's cricketing setup.
A good season could help him regain his mojo after going unsold in the IPL 2026 auction. Impactful performances could also help him push for a place in Punjab's upcoming domestic T20 campaign and potentially put him back on the radar of IPL franchises.
