Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s sensational IPL 2026 campaign came to an end on Friday as Rajasthan Royals suffered a seven-wicket defeat to Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 2, ending their hopes of reaching a second successive IPL final. 

Despite the disappointing result, the 15-year-old batting sensation once again emerged as Rajasthan's standout performer and capped off a memorable season with another dazzling knock.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's Stellar Knock Go In Vain

Notably, Sooryavanshi played a stunning knock of 96 off 47 balls, helping Rajasthan Royals post a challenging total of 215. After a cautious start against Mohammed Siraj and Kagiso Rabada, the young left-hander shifted gears and dominated the Gujarat bowling attack with his fearless stroke play. 

For a while, another century looked certain, although he eventually fell four runs short, marking his third dismissal in the nineties in his last four IPL innings.

However, Gujarat Titans responded with a dominant batting display, as Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan’s explosive opening partnership paved the way for a comfortable victory.

A Record-Breaking IPL 2026 Campaign

Notably, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's IPL 2026 season was built on fearless batting and attacking intent. From the very beginning, he dominated bowlers during the powerplay and regularly gave Rajasthan Royals explosive starts.

The young batter finished the season with 776 runs from 16 matches at an impressive average of 48.50. In addition, he maintained a stunning strike rate of 237.31, making him one of the most dangerous batters in the competition.

One of the biggest highlights of his campaign came against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Jaipur. During that match, he blasted a century in only 36 balls, which became the third-fastest hundred in IPL history. His innings of 103 runs included 12 sixes and five boundaries.

Furthermore, he continued his brilliant form in the playoffs. His 97-run knock against Sunrisers Hyderabad came at a strike rate of over 330, making it one of the most explosive innings of the season. Later, his mature 96 against Gujarat Titans showed his ability to handle pressure and adapt to difficult situations.

When Will Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Be Seen In Action Again?

Fans who are eager to watch the young sensation will not have to wait for long. Recently, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the India A squad for the upcoming tri-nation series in Sri Lanka. Notably, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has earned a place in the 15-member squad.

The tournament will feature India A, Sri Lanka A, and Afghanistan A. Moreover, it will be played in the 50-over format, providing young players with valuable experience in longer white-ball cricket.

The series is scheduled to begin on June 9, only nine days after the conclusion of IPL 2026. Therefore, Sooryavanshi is expected to return to competitive action very soon, and he will be playing under the leadership of Tilak Varma.

Golden Opportunity For Vaibhav Sooryavanshi To Make It To The Indian Team

It is important to note that the upcoming tri-series could prove to be a major turning point in Sooryavanshi’s career. At just 15 years of age, he is already eligible for selection in the senior Indian team. 

Therefore, strong performances in Sri Lanka could bring him closer to representing India at the highest level.
