Josh Hazelwood Endures Career-Worst T20 Punishment [Source: AP]
As SRH clashed against RCB in the 67th match of the IPL 2026 season, Hyderabad batters absolutely destroyed Bengaluru’s key pace Josh Hazlewood as the Aussie recorded his worst T20 career figures.
The two in-form teams clashed at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, where SRH opted to bat first. The wicket was good to bat on, and Hyderabad batters were never going to miss this opportunity to put up yet another 200+ runs total.
Josh Hazlewood was hammered for 27 runs
SRH had a blazing start with a 63-run powerplay. Abhishek Sharma went berserk, scoring 56 off just 22 balls, including 5 sixes, as an opener. Later on, Heinrich Klaasen and Ishan Kishan carried forward the momentum to completely push RCB out of the game in the middle overs.
Even as RCB tried to use their trump card, Josh Hazlewood, to put a stoppage to the flow of runs, the move backfired as the Aussie went on to bowl his worst T20 over.
In the 13th over of the first innings, Hazlewood conceded 3 sixes and a four off Klaasen. The pressure clearly got the better of him as the pacer bowled a couple of wides as well to leak extra runs.

His misery finally ended after 9 balls as Josh Hazlewood ended up conceding 27 runs off that 13th over, which is now the most expensive over of his T20 career. He eventually finished his spell at 4-0-55.
Josh Hazlewood has always been an economical bowler who mastered the art of control. However, at Hyderabad, it wasn’t his day as SRH batters left no stone unturned in treating him like an ordinary bowler.

SRH pushing for a big total
Meanwhile, RCB completely lost the plot after the expensive over of Josh Hazlewood. Rasik Salam and Purple Cap holder Bhuvneshwar Kumar also conceded over 15+ runs each in consecutive overs.
Heinrich Klaasen and Ishan Kishan both completed their fifties at a brisk pace and stitched a 113-run partnership for the third wicket. But against the run of play, Krunal Pandya got a breakthrough for RCB by dismissing Klaasen on 51 off 24 balls.
Regardless, SRH are still positioned well to aim for a 250-run total. They crossed the 200-run mark before 16 overs, and hence, another huge total cannot be ruled out.
Rajat Patidar returns for RCB
Meanwhile, RCB received a big boost ahead of the SRH game as their captain Rajat Patidar made a comeback after missing the last game against PBKS due to an injury.
Patidar is completely fit to resume playing, and it’s a major positive for RCB, as they will need their skipper in full health for the playoffs. RCB are seated at the top of the points table and could most likely finish in the top 2.

That will give the defending champions two chances to compete for the final spot. But for now, RCB must regroup and figure out a way to stop SRH’s onslaught because Sunrisers are also gunning for a spot in the top 2 rankings of the IPL 2026 points table.
