Delhi Capitals skipper Axar Patel won the toss and opted to field first against SRH in match number 31 of the IPL 2026 season. As has been a trend this season, captain Patel is yet to lose a single toss for his franchise in the ongoing tournament.
On the other hand, SRH’s interim captain Ishan Kishan is yet to win a single toss this season, and they have ended up batting first in each of their first seven matches so far in the last one month. With the latest toss result, both SRH and Delhi Capitals franchise have now secured contrasting records in IPL history.
SRH secure record toss losing streak in IPL
The SRH franchise has now lost seven tosses in a row, all in the ongoing IPL 2026 season. Under the leadership of interim captain Ishan Kishan, the ‘Orange Army’ seems to be struggling in making the right coin call before the match.

They have been put in to bat first in all seven of their games so far, in a season where captains have preferred to field first. With SRH losing seven tosses in a row, they have now attained an unwanted sequence of losing the joint-fourth highest number of tosses in the history of the IPL.
Delhi Capitals on a rare winning streak
The Delhi Capitals franchise, meanwhile, seems to have forgotten what it is like to lose a toss. Apart from winning the toss in each of their six games of the ongoing IPL 2026 season under the leadership of Axar Patel, the team also won its toss in their final two matches of IPL 2025 last year.
With eight toss wins in a row since the fag end of the 2025 edition of the tournament, the Delhi Capitals have now secured an extraordinary sequence of winning the joint-third highest number of tosses in IPL history.
SRH, Capitals collide amid mid-table traffic
Both the SRH and Delhi Capitals franchises have secured three wins each to accumulate six points so far in the IPL 2026 season. However, the ‘Orange Army’ is ranked fourth on the 10-team points table for holding a superior NRR of 0.566.

The Axar Patel-led Delhi Capitals is placed at number five on the standings with an NRR of 0.310. The Capitals, however, have played one lesser game than the SRH and a win at this stage of the tournament will catapult them into the top four.
SRH get off to a flier
Batting first, SRH raced to 67-0 at the end of the opening powerplay. Firebrand opener Abhishek Sharma led his side’s early aggression by reaching 42* off just 19 balls with four boundaries and three huge sixes at the time.
His partner Travis Head also reached a quick 23* off 17 as the ‘Orange Army’ got off to a cracking start in front of their home crowd at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
