The Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women wicketkeeper-batter Richa Ghosh has been known for her explosive batting in the middle order for quite some time, and her fireworks against Mumbai Indians Women on January 26 added another memorable chapter to her growing list of standout performances.
Richa Ghosh smashed a brilliant 90 off 50 balls, which, although coming in a losing cause, helped RCB get close to a daunting 200-run target at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara.
However, Smriti Mandhana’s side fell short as Mumbai Indians Women clinched the match by 15 runs. Despite the defeat, Ghosh’s knock saw her break multiple records during the contest.

Richa Ghosh’s heroics in a failed cause
Richa Ghosh played her heroic innings while chasing the massive target set by Mumbai Indians. She walked in after Gautami Naik was dismissed on the first ball of the fifth over, leaving RCB struggling at 31/4.
Taking charge immediately, Ghosh tried to steady the innings. Even as Radha Yadav fell in the very next over and wickets continued to tumble, Ghosh stitched together a 42-run stand with Nadine de Klerk and later added 52 runs with Arundhati Reddy to keep RCB in the hunt.
She also shared a quick 55-run partnership off just 18 balls with Shreyanka Patil, briefly reigniting hopes among RCB fans.
RCB eventually needed 32 runs from the final over. Although Ghosh struck boundaries and a couple of sixes off Amelia Kerr, she was dismissed on the final ball of the innings, bowled by Kerr, as RCB were bowled out.
Mumbai Indians Women sealed a hard-fought win, powered by Hayley Matthews’ three-wicket haul and two wickets each from Amelia Kerr and Shabnim Ismail.
