Vaibhav Sooryavanshi became a household name in India after a fruitful IPL season, during which he scored 776 runs and won the Orange Cap. 

The batting prodigy has been in the limelight since his age-group cricket days and will emerge as a crowd-puller if he makes his debut in the India vs Ireland T20I series, starting on June 26 in Belfast. 

The fact that Cricket Ireland has decided to build temporary stands to accommodate more spectators at the Civil Service Cricket Club ground, where India and Ireland will cross swords across two T20Is, speaks volumes for the craze Sooryavanshi has created even before making his debut. 

Now, as anticipation builds around Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's Team India debut, here are five major records the teenager can break if he gets an opportunity for the senior team in Ireland.

Youngest debutant for India

The legendary Sachin Tendulkar is India's youngest-ever debutant, having played his first international match at the tender age of 16 years and 205 days. 

So, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who recently celebrated his 15th birthday during the IPL 2026, will officially dethrone Tendulkar if he receives his debut T20I cap in the India vs Ireland series.

Most sixes on debut T20I innings

Among batters who have played T20Is for India, Ishan Kishan holds the record for the most sixes in his first innings in the format. Ishan, who made his T20I debut against England in Ahmedabad, smashed four sixes in his very first innings. 

So, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who is hailed for his clean-striking abilities, can go past Ishan and register the most sixes on debut T20I innings if he hits five maximums against Ireland.

Most runs on T20I debut

Veteran batter Ajinkya Rahane played his first T20I against England in 2011. Rahane had a memorable debut, as he struck a flamboyant 39-ball 61, helping India post a competitive total. 

Although Rahane didn't hit a single six, he still holds the record for the most runs by an Indian on T20I debut. So, if Vaibhav Sooryavanshi manages 62 runs in his first match, he'll go past Rahane and etch his name in the history books. 

First batter to score a T20I run on debut in Ireland

None of the Indian players has scored a run on T20I debut in Ireland. So far, Siddarth Kaul, Umran Malik, Prasidh Krishna and Rinku Singh are the Indian players who made their T20I debuts in Ireland. And, interestingly, none of these batters scored a run in their first T20I match. 

Therefore, if Vaibhav Sooryavanshi gets his debut cap and opens his account, he'll become the first Indian debutant to score a run in Ireland. 

Most runs by an Indian opener in Ireland

Currently, Rohit Sharma is India's most successful T20I opener in Ireland. Rohit has 97 runs under his belt at a blistering strike rate of 159.01 on Irish soil. 

So, if Vaibhav Sooryavanshi manages 98 runs on his debut, he can go past Rohit and set a new record for the most runs by an Indian batter in T20Is in Ireland.
