There is no denying that Virat Kohli is IPL’s most valuable player and is adored by everyone. The Indian legend has represented RCB for the last 18 years and has already shattered several IPL records. He is the highest run-getter of the tournament, and also has the most runs scored in a single IPL edition, a feat he achieved in 2016.
Last season, he produced some remarkable batting to help RCB clinch its maiden IPL title, as the franchise had to wait 18 years to get its hands on the trophy. Kohli, was exceptional with the bat in IPL 2025, and the RCB fans expect him to deliver the goods once again.
The IPL 2026 provides Kohli a chance to break multiple records, as he and RCB aim for yet another trophy this season. In this piece, we take a look at 5 IPL feats Kohli can shatter in the upcoming campaign.
1) First batter to score 9,000 IPL runs
The legendary RCB batter has played for 18 seasons in the IPL, and he is the leading run-getter in the tournament’s history with 8661 runs, with a strike rate of 132.86. If he manages to score 339 runs in the 2026 IPL campaign, Kohli will become the first IPL player to reach the landmark of 9,000 runs in the competition.
Kohli already holds the record for being the first player to score 6000, 7000 and 8000 runs in the IPL.
2) 10,000 runs for one team in T20s
The former India captain was signed by RCB in the inaugural edition, 2008 season. Since then, he has racked up 9,085 T20 runs (IPL plus Champions League games), and the legendary batter can cross a historic feat in IPL 2026.
If the RCB opener manages to score 915 runs in IPL 2026, a feat that doesn’t look impossible, then he will become the first player on the planet to score 10,000 T20 runs for a single team.
3) 300 IPL sixes for one team in IPL
There is a myth that Virat Kohli is not a six-hitter, but when you look at the IPL six-hitting records, Kohli will surely sit alongside some of the best at the table. In 267 IPL matches for RCB, the right-handed batter has smacked 291 sixes.
Hence, the veteran player needs just nine more sixes to become the first player to smash 300 sixes for a single IPL team.

Kohli has played 284 T20 matches for three different teams- Delhi, India, and RCB. In those games, he has struck 9704 runs, and already holds the record for the most T20 runs in a single country. However, if he amasses 296 runs in IPL 2026, the 37-year-old will become the first player to smash 10,000 T20 runs in a single country.
5) Most runs at a single T20 venue
Kohli is on the cusp of a historic T20 home record, as the champion player needs to score 383 runs at the Chinnaswamy Stadium to become the first player to slam 4,000 runs at a single venue.
