Fans fuming about the broadcast quality in IND-IRE [Source: SonyLIV, X]
On Sunday afternoon in Belfast, Ireland hosted India for the second and final T20I of the ongoing series between the teams, with a unique opportunity to win their first-ever series against the T20 World Champions.
In the series opener at the same venue, India had fallen short of the 183-run target by 34 runs, courtesy of a valiant team effort from the hosts, making the second T20I an exciting clash. However, all the excitement around the fixture faded as fans felt the broadcast quality did not live up to the international standards and expressed their disappointment.
Fans left fuming with the IRE vs IND broadcast
It is very well known that matches in Ireland, especially during India tours, receive the majority of their revenue from the Indian sponsors. Similar has been the case in the ongoing series, where Cricket Ireland has gotten a lot of Indian brands on board.
Catering to the sponsors’ requirements, there have been a lot of digital advertisements taking up space on the field in these first two matches. This has been an annoying factor for the viewers watching the match on online livestreams.
Additionally, the camera work has been an issue, especially when tracking the ball in the air while a fielder is trying to catch it. During one of the catches taken by Ishan Kishan off Prince Yadav’s bowling, the camera failed to capture the moment when the ball was grabbed.
Fans openly protested about this lack of quality in the broadcast and made sure their feelings were conveyed to the official streaming partners by tagging them on Twitter (X). Some even posted screenshots of their internet connection and felt they were not being provided the best experience by the platform.

Here’s how they reacted:
India looks to avoid embarrassment
In the first match of the series, in the 19 year international history between the teams, India failed to get a win over Ireland. As things stand, India has won 11 of the 12 face-offs across ODIs and T20Is.
This also means they face a danger of losing the first-ever bilateral series against Ireland, and captain Shreyas Iyer would not want it to be on his resume in his maiden series as the captain of Men in Blue.
India in trouble again
Having won the toss in the consecutive matches, India put Ireland to bat first on the afternoon. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi still did not get his much anticipated India debut, but Prince Yadav and Suryansh Shedge got their caps.
The bowlers put on a decent performance, with debutant Prince Yadav picking 3/22 (4), alongside two-fers for Shivam Dube and Arshdeep Singh to restrict Ireland to 154/8 in 20 overs.
The chase immediately went south as both Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma fell for golden ducks to Jai Moondra in the first over itself. It was followed by Shreyas Iyer's wicket, as he chopped on to Moondra on 10(7) and Ishan Kishan got run out in a mix-up with Tilak Varma.
At the end of 8 overs, India are 54/4 with Tilak Varma and Axar Patel unbeaten. At the time of the rain break, India need 101 off 72 balls, with the required rate of 8.41.
