Days passed, cricket events went on, yet the storm in Bangladesh cricket is far from fading. Amid the ongoing turmoil, former Bangladesh skipper Tamim Iqbal has come forward with a strong appeal.

Tamim Iqbal makes a strong appeal to the NSC
For the past few years, Bangladesh cricket has been caught in serious turmoil as political tensions have heavily impacted the sport. During the tough time, Aminul Islam joined BCB with the government’s backing. But the move created buzz, with many alleging that he used his influence to secure the top position on the board.
It is worth mentioning that former Bangladesh skipper Tamim Iqbal initially planned to take part in last year’s election. Citing the government’s interference, he withdrew his name, as that created a massive buzz in the entire nation.

After BCB’s last year’s election created massive buzz, it is not just Tamim Iqbal, as some of Dhaka’s cricket club organisers raised their voices against this. Several cricket club organisers from Dhaka also voiced their objections over the process.
Taking the matter further, Tamim and a number of these organisers requested the National Sports Council to conduct a detailed investigation into the election. The former captain submitted a formal letter to the council, seeking a fair review of the election process.
Tamim Iqbal breaks his silence on the big move
Over the years, Tamim Iqbal has often spoken about the disputes surrounding Bangladesh cricket, but seeking an independent review from the National Sports Council marks a significant step. After submitting the formal request, he reflected on the big step.
While speaking to the media, Tamim revealed that 50 cricket clubs of Dhaka supported him for the significant step. Adding to that, He further added that time will eventually reveal the real truth.
“Fifty out of 76 clubs in Dhaka support the demand. We felt it was important to submit the application through the proper process, and that is what we have done. Time will tell,” he said.
Organisers demand an independent committee to uncover the truth
Over the years, the dispute between Dhaka cricket clubs and the BCB officials has become a mystery. As tensions grew, the dispute began to impact domestic tournaments, with the Dhaka Premier League also feeling the heavy fallout.
After DPL faced a big setback, only 12 teams took part in the nation’s First Division League, with the same number competing in the Second Division as well. However, while speaking, BCB’s former director Fahim Sinha came up with a strong appeal.
“We have asked for an independent investigation committee. There could also be a representative from the National Sports Council in that committee,” he added.
Since the Dhaka Premier League arrived, Bangladeshi fans got another way to celebrate the cricketing thrills. But the ongoing conflict between them is casting a dark shadow over the future of the tournament. Adding to that, the women’s edition of the tournament is now uncertain too.
