Pakistan’s star batter Mohammad Rizwan has endured a prolonged poor run since making his Big Bash League debut in the 2025–26 season. The Pakistan veteran is currently averaging just 18.70 from 10 BBL matches and has failed to cross the 41-run mark even once during the tournament.

Continuing his disappointing run with the bat in Australia’s marquee T20 league, Mohammad Rizwan once again struggled, managing only 17 runs against the Adelaide Strikers on January 17.

Mohammad Rizwan continues disappointing with the bat

Batting for the Melbourne Renegades, Rizwan walked in at No. 4 after a dismal start by the openers. Tim Seifert was dismissed for a duck, while Jake Fraser-McGurk followed soon after, bringing Rizwan to the crease.

However, the Pakistan batter could not stay long at the wicket and was sent back in the fourth over by Henry Thornton. A slower delivery from Thornton deceived Rizwan as he attempted a big sweep shot, only to find Jerrssis Wadia safely positioned at deep backward square leg.

Netizens troll Mohammad Rizwan for his failure

Over his last five BBL outings, Rizwan has managed a combined total of approximately 80 runs, including three single-digit scores. The Pakistan star, widely regarded as a reliable and explosive T20I batter at the top of the order, has failed to make an impact on Australian soil and is now facing heavy criticism from netizens.

Let’s take a look at how netizens have been trolling Mohammad Rizwan for his continued struggles with the bat.

Mohammad Rizwan’s surprising T20I stats

Interestingly, Mohammad Rizwan’s T20I statistics paint a very different picture. The veteran wicketkeeper-batter boasts an impressive average of 47.42 from 160 T20I matches for Pakistan, with one century and 30 half-centuries to his name. However, he also has five ducks in the same format.

Rizwan has struck at a rate of 125.38 across 106 T20Is, with the 2021 season standing out as his peak year. In 2021, he averaged a remarkable 73.67 while scoring at a healthy strike rate of 134.89 in 29 matches.

Since then, both his average and strike rate have seen a gradual decline, with 2024 proving to be his toughest year, as he averaged 41.13 at a strike rate of 117.30.

Notably, Rizwan’s strike rate in the BBL stands at just 102.75, which is considered below par in a high-paced competition like the Big Bash League.

Rizwan failed to keep Renegades' trust

Although Mohammad Rizwan has been backed by the Melbourne Renegades due to his stature in international cricket, his performances failed to justify the faith shown in him.

Mohammad Rizwan was unable to register even a single half-century throughout the tournament.

For the unaware, Melbourne Renegades played their final match of the Big Bash League 2025–26 season before the playoffs and were bundled out for just 99 runs, eventually finishing second from the bottom of the points table as they did not make it to the qualifiers.
