The rivalry between the Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru has taken a fresh turn during the ongoing IPL 2026 season. The five-time champions CSK have formally approached the BCCI, raising concerns over an incident that occurred during their match at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on April 5.

The complaint centres on a song played during the game and on alleged remarks made by the stadium DJ.

Why did CSK lodge a complaint against RCB?

The controversy began when a song titled ‘Dosa, idli, sambar, chutney, chutney’ was played just before CSK started their innings. The track has gained popularity online and is often used in memes. However, it has also been criticised for stereotypes associated with South Indian identity.

According to reports, CSK management found the timing and context of the song inappropriate; the franchise felt that it crossed the line from entertainment into mockery.

CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan confirmed that the team had formally written to the BCCI, not only about the song but also regarding certain comments allegedly made by the DJ targeting CSK players.

He emphasised that while DJs are expected to support the home team, they should not make remarks about opposition players.

“The DJs are usually there to support the home team. But at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, it was different. Certain comments were made against our players. Considering that, we have written to the BCCI to look into it,” he told the Indian Express.

"After that incident, there hadn’t been any repeat. The DJ isn’t supposed to make comments on opposition players. Moreover, we are fortunate to have a lovely fanbase that supports us in large numbers,” he added.

A senior IPL official has acknowledged receipt of the complaint and that it is currently under review.

RCB fans blast CSK for the complaint

The complaint, however, did not go down well with a section of RCB supporters. Social media platforms, especially X (formerly Twitter), were flooded with reactions against the ‘Yellow Army’

Many users mocked the franchise, suggesting that complaining about a DJ was unnecessary. One viral reaction read: "Complaining against the DJ?? Next what, complaint against social media users lol cry babies."

Others accused CSK of hypocrisy, claiming that similar songs or crowd tactics had been used in Chennai’s home ground in the past.

In this article, let's take a look at how RCB fans reacted to the CSK complaining against the DJ.

CSK and RCB's IPL 2026 journey so far

On the field, the two teams have had contrasting campaigns so far in IPL 2026. CSK had a difficult start to their season, losing their first three matches. However, they bounced back with two consecutive home wins against the Delhi Capitals by 23 runs and Kolkata Knight Riders by 32 runs.

It is important to note that CSK will next face the Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 18.

RCB, on the other hand, have emerged as one of the strongest sides this season. They currently sit at the top of the points table, having won four out of their five matches.

Their only loss came against the Rajasthan Royals, but they quickly regained momentum with a 5-wicket win over the Lucknow Super Giants.
