Quetta Gladiators, two-time champions, will enter the PSL 2026 season with a renewed mindset and fresh faces. Last year, the team narrowly missed out on their third title.

After finishing at the top of the table with 7 wins in 10 games, the Gladiators faced Lahore Qalandars in the final. However, chasing a 205-run target, Quetta fumbled at the very end and lost the game by just 4 runs.

Regardless, Quetta Gladiators have restructured their squad for the PSL 2026 season. Saud Shakeel will retain his role as captain. The franchise also retained Abrar Ahmed while acquiring Usman Tariq and Hasan Nawaz.

Overall, the Gladiators have a balanced squad. However, to achieve success, the team needs to find their best combination.

On that note, let’s see what could be the strongest playing XI for Quetta Gladiators in PSL 2026.

Top-Order - Saud Shakeel, Rilee Rossouw, Hasan Nawaz

Quetta Gladiators’ major batting strength lies with the top-order. Captain Saud Shakeel will open alongside Rilee Rossouw. While the skipper’s average is barely over 30 in PSL, the Gladiators will bank on his talent because once Saud gets going, there’s no stopping his rampage.

As for Rossouw, he has over 2000 runs scored in PSL at a 32.21 average. He spent five seasons with Quetta, where he also served as captain. Hence, his experience and familiarity make him an ideal opening partner for Saud Shakeel.

That being said, Quetta Gladiators’ major batting asset is Hasan Nawaz. Last year, he hammered 399 runs in 10 innings at 57 average, including a century. Nawaz single-handedly kept the Gladiators alive in the PSL 2025 final. Hence, Hasan Nawaz will most likely be slotted at no. 3.

Middle-Order - Bismillah Khan, Khawaja Nafay, Brett Hampton, Jahandad Khan

For the wicket-keeper role, Quetta Gladiators will likely bank on Bismillah Khan as Sam Harper’s participation is still uncertain. Bismillah last played PSL for Quetta in 2015.

Moving ahead, Khawaja Nafay will hold the finishing responsibility. While he played only 2 games last year, his power-hitting abilities make him an ideal no. 5 option.

Brett Hampton performed well in the Super Smash T20 tournament and is a decent all-round option. When in form, Hampton can contribute valuable runs in the death overs.

Jahandad Khan will next come in to bat. He is a great talent waiting for the right and consistent opportunities to rise. With the Quetta Gladiators, he may finally find the right platform.

Bowlers - Alzarri Joseph, Abrar Ahmed, Usman Tariq, Faisal Akram

Coming to the bowling department, Quetta Gladiators’ PSL 2026 campaign will be dependent a lot on the spin duo of Abrar Ahmed and Usman Tariq.

While Abrar will bank on his mystery and variations, Tariq’s unique auction and pause before delivery will deceive the opposition batters.

Apart from these quality spin duo, Quetta Gladiators will likely play Alzarri Joseph and Faisal Akram as primary fast bowlers. Akram is a quality young talent who can perform with consistent chances.

Joseph, meanwhile, will not only bowl with the new ball but also chip in some useful 15-20 runs in the death.

So overall, Quetta Gladiators have a good set of players for every department. With this combination, the team will be the primary contenders for the trophy in PSL 2026.
