Delhi Capitals were on the brink of a famous win against the Gujarat Titans in their last match, but somehow, the batters faltered, and the team suffered a heartbreaking one-run defeat. The Capitals don’t have much time left to think about the loss, as the Axar Patel-led side will battle against CSK at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.

DC have had an interesting start in the IPL 2026, as the side won their opening two matches, but suffered a defeat against GT, which has put their morale down. CSK are the wounded lions, and the Capitals will aim to inflict yet another defeat on them.

CSK Vs DC IPL 2026 Preview

The Capitals won their first two matches and were riding high on confidence before they came crashing down against the Titans. DC will still start as the overwhelming favourites against the Chennai Super Kings, but the team has to be wary of the former IPL champions.

After the loss vs GT, the team should make a couple of key changes for the IPL 2026 clash vs the CSK. So far, the CSK Vs DC rivalry has been one-sided, with CSK winning 19 and DC having just 12 wins in their kitty.

With a crucial game on the cards, here is how the Delhi Capitals could lineup for the marquee game against the five-time champions, CSK.

DC strongest playing XI Vs CSK- IPL 2026

Openers and top order: Pathum Nissanka, KL Rahul, Abishek Porel

KL Rahul finally came back in form against the Gujarat Titans as he scored a valuable 92 runs, but he just couldn’t steer his team past the winning line. His form is crucial for DC’s success in IPL 2026, and the franchise would be ecstatic that KL Rahul is back amongst the run-scorers for the franchise.

For two games in a row, Pathum Nissanka has delivered the goods for the franchise, and he has been the aggressive batter in the partnership. Nissanka takes the pressure off KL Rahul, and the Sri Lankan will aim to do the same vs CSK.

One change DC would be contemplating to make is to include Abishek Porel in place of Nitish Rana at 3. Rana has failed in three consecutive matches for DC and has hardly left any impact on the team. Instead, the franchise should include Porel, who has done well for the Capitals in the past.

Middle order and all-rounders: Sameer Rizvi, Tristan Stubbs, David Miller, Ashutosh Sharma, Axar Patel

The man in-form for DC, Sameer Rizvi will bat at number 4 for the team. He has won two games in the tournament for the franchise, and the right-handed batter would be expected to continue his form against CSK.

South African pair of Tristan Stubbs, and David Miller will hold the fort in the middle-order, with captain Axar Patel being used as a floater.

Another change that DC should make against CSK is replacing Vipraj Nigam with Ashutosh Sharma. In the game against GT, DC failed to finish off the game, and this is where Ashutosh comes into play, who is known as one of the best finishers in the league.

Bowlers: Kuldeep Yadav, T Natarajan, Mukesh Kumar

DC’s bowling has been one of the best in the IPL 2026, and the onslaught has been led by Mukesh Kumar and T Natarajan, who have become irreplaceable from the playing XI. They will be the leader of the pace attack against CSK.

Alongside them, the spin-bowling command will be led by Kuldeep Yadav, who will aim to dominate the struggling CSK batters with his variations.

Many want Auqib Nabi to be a part of the DC playing XI, and while the all-rounder deserves to get a place in the lineup, the form of Mukesh Kumar, T Natarajan, and others might not allow him to fit into the main XI.
