Jasprit Bumrah To Be Rested? MI Strongest XI vs PBKS For IPL 2026, Match 58

On Thursday, May 14, Punjab Kings will host Mumbai Indians for IPL 2026 match 58 at the Dharamshala Stadium. Both teams are fresh off defeats but sit at opposite ends of the table. The Shreyas Iyer-led side have registered four straight defeats and are placed 4th on the table.

Mumbai Indians, on the other hand, became the second side to be eliminated from the tournament after a defeat against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. MI don’t have much left to achieve in IPL 2026, but they can certainly help others and ruin PBKS' plans.

MI vs PBKS Preview

Punjab Kings are likely to make a few changes after four consecutive defeats. Notably, their fielding standards have been underwhelming, and a few players like Shashank Singh and Yuzvendra Chahal might actually face the axe for their fielding.

For MI, they have some bad news that Hardik Pandya is still unfit and won’t join the squad in Dharamshala for the match against Punjab Kings. Further, there is a doubt over SKY’s availability as the new father is currently in Mumbai with his wife and daughter.

Therefore, this article will shed light on Mumbai Indians’ strongest XI vs PBKS for IPL 2026 match 58.

MI Likely Playing XI vs PBKS- Match 58

Openers and Top Order (Rohit Sharma, Ryan Rickelton, Tilak Varma)

In the top order, Mumbai Indians are unlikely to make any changes. Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton will open the innings as they have been highly successful over the last two years.

One change that MI might make in the top-order is to promote Tilak Varma up the order. Notably, the southpaw has been batting down the order under Hardik Pandya’s leadership. However, Suryakumar Yadav prefers to send Tilak Varma at 3.

During MI’s last match against RCB, Naman Dhir had to come and bat at No.3. However, against PBKS, Tilak Varma will bat at No.3.

Middle Order and All Rounders (Suryakumar Yadav, Naman Dhir, Sherfane Rutherford, Robin Minz)

In the middle-order, MI are expected to make a couple of changes. Suryakumar Yadav will lead the side and retain his place despite poor display with the bat. Also, Naman Dhir has been excellent and will play as well.

Other than them, Sherfane Rutherford is expected to return after missing last 5 matches. Will Jacks has not been in best of form and MI might bring back Rutherford as they are already out of the tournament.

The southpaw has scored 103 runs in 6 innings, averaging 23.75. Also, Robin Minz is expected to replace Raj Angad Bawa, who was the main culprit behind MI's loss against RCB.

Bowlers (Jasprit Bumrah, Corbin Bosch, Allah Ghazanfar, Ashwani Kumar)

Dharamshala offers more bounce and seam for the bowlers. As seen in the match between DC and PBKS, there was no over of spin in the entire match. Hence, MI might make a change and bring in Ashwani Kumar in for Raghu Sharma.

Rest, Jasprit Bumrah, Corbin Bosch, and Allah Ghazanfar will play. There were questions whether Bumrah should be rested or not. However, the right-arm seamer is most likely to continue and look to finish the tournament on a high.
