On Monday, May 11, Delhi Capitals will lock horns against Punjab Kings for IPL 2026 match 55. It will be the first match at Dharmsala this season. Notably, both teams are fresh off defeats, making the upcoming fixture important for the Capitals and the Kings.

Notably, DC are on the brink of elimination, placed 8th on the table with just 4 wins in 11 matches. Another defeat and the Axar Patel-led side will be out of the tournament. On the other hand, PBKS got off to the perfect start, but they have now lost three matches in a row.

Delhi Capitals vs Punjab Kings Preview

For Punjab Kings, they have some tough calls to make in the bowling unit. Further, they have been dropping a lot of catches, particularly Shashank Singh, who now faces pressure to retain his place in the team.

For Delhi Capitals, nothing seems to be going right for the franchise, hunting their maiden IPL title. They too are likely to make a lot of changes in the team, as hinted by Axar Patel during the post-match interview after DC’s embarrassing defeat against KKR.

Therefore, this article will shed light on Delhi Capitals’ strongest playing XI vs Punjab Kings for IPL 2026 match 55.

Delhi Capitals Likely Playing XI vs Punjab Kings- Match 55

Openers and Top Order (Prithvi Shaw, KL Rahul, Abishek Porel)

As mentioned by Axar Patel, there will be several changes at the top. The Capitals might hand Prithvi Shaw his first game of the season, as Pathum Nissanka has been inconsistent with his form. The Sri Lankan star scored a fifty in the last match, but more than him, DC require David Miller back in the playing XI, and Nissanka would have to make way.

Rest, Abishek Porel might replace Nitish Rana at no.3. Notably, Porel featured in just a solitary game in IPL 2026 against RCB, where he came as an impact sub. Interestingly, Porel was the leading run-getter in that game and still failed to impress the management.

Middle Order and All Rounders (Tristan Stubbs, David Miller, Axar Patel, Ashutosh Sharma)

Delhi Capitals might now get rid of Sameer Rizvi, who lost his form mid-season and failed to capitalise on the positive start. Notably, Rizvi has scored just 252 runs in nine innings. Hence, it allows DC to have Tristan Stubbs, David Miller, Axar Patel, and Ashutosh Sharma in the middle-order.

David Miller has not played the last two matches for the Tigers, and the Proteas international is most likely to return to the XI against the Punjab Kings.

Bowlers (Kuldeep Yadav, Lungi Ngidi, Mitchell Starc, Mukesh Kumar)

Delhi Capitals’ bowlers had very little to do against KKR, which is why they are unlikely to make any changes in that department. Kuldeep Yadav is struggling, but DC have no other spin bowling option better than the Indian talisman.

Rest, Lungi Ngidi, Mitchell Starc, and Mukesh Kumar will lead the bowling attack for Delhi Capitals against Punjab Kings.
