Bangladesh Strongest XI vs NZ, 3rd T20I [Source: AFP]
The Bangladesh cricket team is all set to take on New Zealand in the decisive third T20I of the ongoing series, scheduled to be played at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur on May 2, with the match set to begin at 1:30 PM IST.
With the first game going in Bangladesh’s favour and the second T20I being washed out, the series now hangs in the balance, making the final encounter a high-stakes clash for both sides.
Bangladesh will head into the contest with confidence after their six-wicket win in the opener, where their batting unit looked composed and their bowlers held their nerve.
Under the leadership of Litton Das, the hosts have shown promising depth despite missing a few experienced names, and they will be eager to seal the series at home.
On the other hand, New Zealand will look to bounce back strongly and level the series, banking on a mix of young talent and experienced campaigners to deliver under pressure. With conditions in Mirpur expected to assist spinners, team combinations and middle-over strategies could play a crucial role in deciding the outcome.
As both teams gear up for the series decider, Bangladesh will need to field their most balanced XI to counter New Zealand’s challenge. Here’s a look at Bangladesh’s predicted Playing XI for the 3rd T20I against New Zealand.
Bangladesh Playing XI vs New Zealand, 3rd T20I
Top Order: Saif Hassan, Tanzid Hasan, Litton Das (c & wk), Towhid Hridoy
The top order of Bangladesh looks stable with the duo of Saif Hassan and Tanzid Hasan. The opening duo played a solid knock in the first T20I against New Zealand.
Although Saif's stint was small, the duo made a good impact to put up 41 runs together before Saif was dismissed just three balls ahead of the end of the powerplay.
Litton Das, the skipper, will be continuing at number three in the Bangladesh Playing XI vs New Zealand despite a volatile innings against the Kiwis where he was bowled out by Ish Sodhi for a 15-ball 21. Nevertheless, he will be a good cushion in case of any early scare like the previous match.
Towhid Hridoy will be taking up the responsibility at number four in the Bangladesh Playing XI vs New Zealand since he played a match-winning knock of 27-ball 51 while remaining unbeaten to pair with Parvez Hossain Emon and Shamim Hossain.

Middle Order and All Rounders: Parvez Hossain Emon, Shamim Hossain, Mahedi Hasan
Parvez Hossain Emon and Shamim Hossain are solid veterans in the middle order of the Bangladesh Playing XI vs New Zealand to pack a punch in case of crunch situations or any demand to accelerate the middle-over phases.
In the previous match, Parvez scored an impactful 14-ball 28 at a strike rate of 200.00 to help Bangladesh ease into the chase of 183 runs. Shamim Hossain too remained unbeaten alongside Towhid to score a 13-ball 31 and contribute to the massive six-wicket win of Bangladesh.
Last but not least, in the batting middle order, Mahedi Hasan will be an important cog to accelerate in crunch situations with the bat. He played for the Chattogram Royals in BPL 2025-26 and managed to bag 177 runs from his 10 matches while averaging 29.50 and striking at 141.60.
With the ball too, he is equally effective, scalping 15 wickets in the BPL while having a very low economy rate of 7.17, further underlining his impact as an off-break spinner for the national team.
Bowlers: Rishad Hossain, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Shoriful Islam, Abdul Gaffar Saqlain
The bowling department will be led by Shoriful Islam, Rishad Hossain, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, and Abdul Ghaffar Saqlain. While Saqlain haven’t amde his debut in this series so far, Ripon Mondol had a poor outing in the first T20I where he leaked 39 runs from his four overs.
Hence, this might let the Bangladesh cricket board think tank call in the talented Saqlain to replace Mondol in the bowling lineup as a rising young pacer.
Meanwhile, Tanzim will be adding his all-rounder expertise along with his pace bowling experience to the Bangladesh Playing XI vs New Zealand. Shoriful Islam will add to the pace department, while Rishad Hossain will be leading the speed arsenal alongside other veteran all-rounders from the squad.
