Bangladesh and New Zealand cricket teams will be squaring off in the second T20I of their three-match series on Wednesday, April 29. The match will be hosted by the Bir Sreshtho Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Chattogram and the action will commence from 1:30 PM IST onwards.
Apart from winning the first T20I and taking a 1-0 lead in the T20I series, hosts Bangladesh also won the preceding ODI series between the two sides by a 2-1 margin.
Bangladesh vs New Zealand 2nd T20I Preview
Before the home series against New Zealand, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) pulled out of the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in India citing security concerns. Despite playing their first T20I after a gap of nearly five months, Bangladesh thrashed New Zealand by six wickets on April 27 to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.
Under the leadership of Litton Das, Bangladeshi batters Towhid Hridoy (51* off 27) and Shamim Hossain (31* off 13) made lightwork of New Zealand’s 182-run total in Chattogram.

Before losing the series-opener against Bangladesh, the New Zealand team also lost its five-match T20I series against South Africa at home by a 2-3 margin last month.
With several of senior New Zealand players currently playing the IPL 2026 season in India, the ‘Black Caps’ are fielding a relatively younger and inexperienced team, under the leadership of Test specialist Tom Latham. Not long ago, a senior New Zealand side reached the final of the 2026 T20 World Cup in India.
Ahead of the match, here is a look at the best probable playing XI of the Bangladesh team against New Zealand.

Captain Litton Das will likely resume his role at number three position. A veteran of 121 T20Is, the 31-year-old averages of 23.47 in the format with a strike rate of 126.58. The attacking top-order batter has also amassed nearly a 1,000 T20I runs at number three.

Parvez and Shamim even unleashed cracking cameos in the first T20I to star in Bangladesh’s emphatic series-leading win.
Spin bowling all-rounders Mahedi Hasan and Rishad Hossain will likely bat at number seven and number eight positions respectively, with both players holding a penchant of scoring quick runs in the slog overs.
Bowlers: Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Ripon Mondol, Shoriful Islam
Fast bowler Tanzim Hasan Sakib will bat at number nine. The speedster will also take the new ball for Bangladesh alongside fellow paceman Shoriful Islam. Both Tanzim and Shoriful picked up a wicket each in the first T20I.
Ripon Mondol, who went wicketless in the first match, will likely receive another cracking in the Bangladesh playing XI owing to his impressive record in domestic T20 cricket.
