In an important development, Pakistan is ready to host the Zimbabwe Women’s cricket team for the very first time in history. Notably, this tour marks a key moment in the growth of women’s cricket.
The Zimbabwe Women’s team is expected to arrive later this month, and the series will include three One Day Internationals (ODIs) along with three T20I matches.
The ODI series will likely begin on May 3, and it will be followed by the T20 matches starting from May 12. Furthermore, all six games will be played at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi. This single-venue format will help in smooth and better coordination.
Importance of ICC Women’s Championship
It is important to note that the ODI matches carry special importance since they are part of the ICC Women’s Championship 2025–29. This championship plays a major role in deciding which teams qualify for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2029.
Therefore, every match becomes valuable for both teams. For Zimbabwe, this will be their first-ever participation in the championship. As a result, the series becomes a historic moment for their women’s cricket journey.
“The Zimbabwe women’s tour of Pakistan is more than just a bilateral series—it is a step forward in strengthening the global women’s cricket calendar, offering both teams a chance to grow, compete, and inspire the next generation of female cricketers,” said an official.
Upcoming Tri-Series for Pakistan
After this series, Pakistan Women will take part in the Ireland Women’s T20I Tri-Series 2026. This tournament will include teams from Pakistan, Ireland, and West Indies, and it is set to begin on May 28. Hence, the Zimbabwe tour will also serve as preparation for Pakistan before entering another competitive event and Women's T20 World Cup.

For Pakistani team, this series offers a chance to build on recent progress in women’s cricket. The team has been working on improving its domestic structure and gaining more international exposure. On the other hand, Zimbabwe will use this opportunity to test their abilities against a higher-ranked team.
Pakistan coming from white-ball series against New Zealand
