In a significant development, India's star players Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shafali Verma have been issued a notice by the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA). It is important to note that both players are part of NADA's Registered Testing Pool (RTP), where athletes are required to remain available for surprise doping tests.
The other players that are part of the NADA’s RTP list include big names such as Shubman Gill, Hardik Pandya, Rishabh Pant, Jasprit Bumrah, KL Rahul, Arshdeep Singh, Tilak Verma, Axar Patel, Deepti Sharma and Renuka Singh Thakur.
NADA Sends Notice To Yashasvi Jaiswal And Shefali Verma
According to a report by Dainik Jagran journalist Abhishek Tripathi, both players (Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shafali Verma) were not found at the location they had provided for testing, leading to a 'whereabouts failure' case.

The NADA has registered the first missed test against the two cricketers, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shafali Verma, under anti-doping rules. However, this does not mean they have failed a dope test. The agency has also given them the opportunity to explain why they could not appear for the testing.
As per anti-doping rules, athletes included in the RTP must regularly update NADA on their location and specify a time slot during which they are available for testing. A Dope Control Officer (DCO) can arrive at the mentioned place anytime during the declared period to collect samples.
NADA Seeks Explanation From Yashasvi Jaiswal And Shefali Verma
It is vital to note that, according to the report, NADA officials reached Yashasvi Jaiswal’s location on December 17 last year, while Shafali Verma reportedly missed her scheduled test on November 7, 2025. Since both players were unavailable, NADA later sent notices seeking explanations.
The notices were sent to the players in February this year, but no reply was submitted within the expected time. Following this, NADA recorded the missed tests officially.
The issue has also been communicated to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the International Cricket Council (ICC), and both players will need to present their views within 7 days.
What Happens If Players Miss More Tests?
Under anti-doping regulations, an athlete is considered guilty of violating 'whereabouts rules' only after three missed tests or filing failures within a 12-month period. If found guilty after a hearing, athletes can face a suspension of up to two years.
In conclusion, both Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shafali Verma have received their first notice and will need to be extremely careful going forward.
The matter is currently under review, and further action will depend on the explanations submitted by the players to NADA. As of now, Jaiswal is playing for Rajasthan Royals in the ongoing IPL 2026, and Shafali last played in the India Women tour of South Africa 2026.
