Vaibhav Sooryavanshi got off to a poor start in his debut England series. Yet, the bounce back was generational. An 18-ball fifty against Zimbabwe was a statement knock to show the intentions that he carried from his exploits in IPL 2026. 

The 15-year-old played his last T20I innings in the India vs Zimbabwe 3rd T20I to conclude the three-match tour. As he bagged 193 runs in the national jersey, the nation will be excited to see him again donning the Blue in his next venture.

When Will Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Play Next For India?

The catastrophic batting display shown by Sooryavanshi was something that has set off a mountain of expectations for the Indian audience. This only increases the probability of him featuring in the next series or tournament that India will play.

It is worth noting that Sooryavanshi is a T20 specialist batter and hence, the one-day format will still be a long shot for him. At least not now when veterans like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, alongside Shubman Gill, are in the top order.

Hence, after a hot-and-cold debut for India and proving his worth on the Zimbabwe tour, Sooryavanshi will be playing the Asian Games 2026 starting from September 24, for which he has already been selected by the management.

It is to be noted that the tournament ends at Korogi Athletic Park in Aichi Prefecture, and India has been seeded directly to the quarterfinals, being the defending champions.

Since the official dates are not revealed by the Olympic Council of Asia yet for the quarterfinals, the specific match dates of India cannot be detailed. However, it is a certainty that Vaibhav Sooryavanshi will be there to work his charm with the bat from late September.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Is Here To Stay Or Not?

Sooryavanshi is a massive prospect for the Indian cricket team. The left-handed batter has been at his best in IPL 2025 and 2026. Although he was slow with his knocks on foreign soil, it is understandable for a batter who will play on an unknown pitch for the very first time in his life.

Probably, this is the reason why the Indian management stuck to the youngster despite his awry returns in the first few matches during the UK tour. Hence, he is likely to feature in the Playing XI of the Asian Games 2026 tournament as well.

Abhishek Sharma was the pioneer in power hitting as an opener, and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi seems like the perfect disciple to follow on. 

The hitting in T20 cricket from ball one has surely guaranteed his place in the future to come. While he has a lot of time to reflect and work on his progress, the BCCI would like to keep him in the scheme of things while rotating with Sanju Samson.

How Did Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Fare In IND vs ZIM T20I Series?

Sooryavanshi had impressive scores on the Zimbabwe tour, where in the first T20I, he smashed an 18-ball 50, and in the second match, he scored a quick-fire 20 off 9 balls before getting dismissed by Richard Ngarava. 

The third and final T20I against Zimbabwe saw Sooryavanshi score a phenomenal 81 off 49 balls, with his half-century coming in just 31 deliveries. 

Moreover, Vaibhav's approach with the bat has been a statement. Throughout the series, be it a short cameo or a long knock, he finished with an average of 50.33, a strike rate of 196.10, and 151 runs to his name.
