PAK vs BAN Prediction, 2nd Test- Pakistan Tour of Bangladesh 2026, Who Will Win Today?

Bangladesh vs Pakistan 2nd Test prediction [Source: AFP]After scripting a memorable win in the opening encounter, Bangladesh will once again lock horns with Pakistan in the second and final Test of the series at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium from May 16 at 9:00 AM (IST). The hosts head into the contest with confidence after securing a dominant 104-run victory in the first Test at Mirpur, where Bangladesh posted 413 and 240/9 before bowling Pakistan out for 163 in the fourth innings. With momentum on their side, Bangladesh will aim to seal the series and continue their strong start in the World Test Championship 2025-27 cycle. Pakistan, meanwhile, will be desperate to bounce back after another disappointing red-ball outing. Questions continue to rise over their batting consistency and overall approach in Test cricket, making the Sylhet clash crucial for the visitors to restore confidence and avoid a series defeat. Hasan has the ability to generate movement with the new ball and can trouble left-handers by attacking the stumps consistently. Meanwhile, Mominul’s experience in handling pressure situations in home Tests makes this battle crucial, especially during the early phase of Bangladesh’s innings. Mominul Haque vs Hasan Ali in Tests: 34 runs; 63 balls; 2 dismissals Mohammad Rizwan vs Taijul Islam Mohammad Rizwan’s counter-attacking batting against spin will be tested by Taijul Islam, who remains Bangladesh’s biggest weapon on turning tracks. Rizwan likes to rotate strike and use his feet against spinners, but Taijul’s accuracy and subtle variations could create problems if the pitch starts assisting turn. This contest in the middle overs could play a defining role in Pakistan’s batting stability. Mohammad Rizwan vs Taijul Islam in Tests: 28 runs; 70 balls; 1 dismissal Azan Awais vs Taskin Ahmed Young batter Azan Awais will have a massive challenge against Taskin Ahmed’s pace and bounce with the new ball. Taskin’s ability to hit hard lengths and generate sharp seam movement can put the inexperienced opener under immediate pressure. On the other hand, if Azan manages to survive the opening spell, he could settle in and provide Pakistan with a strong platform at the top. Across five Tests played at this venue since 2018, teams batting first have won three matches, while chasing sides have won twice. The average run rate has remained around 3.31, indicating that the surface generally slows down as the game progresses. Fast bowlers could get some assistance with the new ball during the opening sessions, but the pitch is expected to become more batting-friendly once settled. However, by the third and fourth innings, the wicket could begin to wear down and offer increasing help for spinners. Notably, fourth-innings batting has been the toughest here, with teams averaging only 19.08 in the final innings of matches. Considering the trend of teams batting first winning more matches and the pitch deteriorating later in the game, winning the toss and opting to bat first could be the preferred strategy for the toss-winning captain in Sylhet. Bangladesh head into the second Test with momentum firmly on their side after defeating Pakistan by 104 runs in the opening match. The hosts have looked more settled in red-ball cricket recently, especially in home conditions where their spinners and disciplined batting unit continue to thrive. Pakistan, meanwhile, are still struggling to find consistency in the longer format, with their batting lineup failing to handle pressure in crucial phases of the first Test. Although Pakistan hold a dominant 12-3 head-to-head record against Bangladesh in Tests, the current form and home advantage heavily favour the Tigers. Considering the confidence within the Bangladesh camp and the challenges Pakistan have faced adapting to the conditions, the hosts are likely to win the second Test in Sylhet as well.
