The stage is set for the high-voltage final of the PSL 2026 season. Peshawar Zalmi will compete against Hyderabad Kingsmen on Sunday, May 3, at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

However, weather gods are apparently not in favour. The city of Lahore is expected to witness disturbing weather this weekend, and this could directly impact the PSL 2026 final.

Strong weather system to hit Lahore

According to Pakistani meteorologists, a strong western weather system is expected to hit Punjab from May 2 to 4.

Rain, thunderstorms, dust storms and strong winds could take place along with some lightning activity and isolated hailstorms. Temperatures could hover around 26-30°C with cloudy to heavily overcast conditions.

Lahore is specifically listed among cities likely to be affected. Hence, the PSL 2026 final could have a delayed start or may witness interruptions in between due to rain.

In the worst-case scenario, if the Gaddafi Stadium’s drainage system is weak, there could be a complete washout.

What if the PSL 2026 final is washed out?

That being said, in case the PSL 2026 final is washed out due to rain or adverse weather conditions, a reserve day will come into effect. According to the rulebook, the PSL have saved May 4 as a reserve day for the final.

Hence, in case of weather interruption, the match will either continue from where it stopped or be replayed, depending on how much play happened.

Also, in case even the reserved day is impacted due to bad weather, the team that finished higher in the points table during the league stage is declared the winner.

In this case, Peshawar Zalmi will benefit, as they topped the points table during league stages with 8 wins and 17 points in 10 games. That’s why teams push hard in the league stage, as it can literally decide the title if rain has the final say.

PSL to allow crowd entry for the final

Meanwhile, fans will return to the stands on the eve of the PSL 2026 final. The decision came after Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif approved a special request from franchise owners.

Earlier, the league was played behind closed doors due to the massive fuel crisis in the country in the aftermath of the West Asia war.

However, for the final, the officials made an exception, meaning fans will witness the action live from Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

Interestingly, PSL CEO Salman Naseer had earlier confirmed that a closing ceremony will also take place before the final to provide entertainment to the fans. This will ensure the final remains a memorable event for live spectators.

So overall, the PSL 2026 final night is expected to be an entertaining night, given the weather gods show mercy.
