Towhid Hridoy taken off on a stretcher [Source: X]
Just when a partnership was brewing for Bangladesh in the first Test against the West Indies, the hosts suffered an injury blow as star batter Towhid Hridoy was taken off the field on a stretcher as he looked in immense pain.
Litton Das replaced him as Hridoy, who was batting at 42, suffered from cramps, and the team physio took him off the field.

The incident occurred during the 66th over of the Bangladesh innings, when Hridoy played a Joshua Bishop delivery on the off side and scrambled for a single as he started to hobble.
He removed his helmet and gloves and went down as the player battled cramps and looked visibly frustrated. Bangladesh team physio came out, and after a delay, it was decided that Hridoy would be taken off the field.
A couple of overs back, Hridoy complained of cramps as he went down, and the team physio helped him do some stretching of his right leg. However, he felt better as the Bangladesh star continued batting before he couldn’t take it anymore, and walked off.
The humidity in Dhaka has been around 54%, and it has taken a toll on Hridoy, as he has felt discomfort and had cramps in his right leg.

The Sher-e-Bangla Stadium surface has been a tricky prospect for the batters as spinners have come into play early. The Tigers lost an early wicket as Tanzid Hasan was dismissed for just 7 runs.
Mominul Haque (28), and Najmul Hossain Shanto (19) couldn’t convert their starts as Bangladesh lost their opening three wickets for 110. Hridoy, then, rescued the sinking ship as he added 88 crucial runs and bailed the team out of a tricky situation.
He looked in ominous touch and was closing in on a deserving fifty before the player was stretched off. However, Bangladesh will hope he can still come out to bat in the ongoing first innings.
