Former Pakistan Captain Shahid Afridi demanded the immediate exit of Mohsin Naqvi from the chief post of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in the middle of the Imran Khan interview controversy.

Afridi highlighted that Naqvi holds two important positions in the PCB and in Pakistan’s government. Therefore, given how little knowledge he has, it would be very difficult for him to make the right decisions every now and then.

Mohsin Naqvi’s Advisory Team Won't Be Enough, Feels Afridi

In a recent conversation with the media in Pakistan, Afridi also pointed out that Naqvi’s current advisory team, who help him make the right calls, won’t be enough if he does not know all the details.

"I would request or advise Mohsin Naqvi to make one decision, because he also holds the Interior Ministry, along with the PCB Chairman; these two are very big jobs. Either stay on that or with the PCB, because the world of cricket is totally different," Afridi said.

"So he will have to make a decision. He will not be able to function by relying on advisors. Or, from what I see, the advisors around him, in my opinion, are not capable enough, and I don't know which direction they will take him in, because I have heard him say repeatedly that he doesn't know much about cricket. So he should appoint people as advisors who know cricket, who understand grassroots-level cricket," he added.

To conclude, Afridi also made a comment on Naqvi’s current status, saying that he ‘won't be able to achieve anything’ if he keeps both positions, particularly after what happened in England regarding Imran Khan.

"If he relies on advisors, then in my opinion Mohsin Naqvi won't be able to achieve anything, and Naqvi will have to make a decision whether he wants to keep the Interior Ministry or the PCB, because these decisions are very big decisions," Afridi added.

Why PCB Filed Complaint On Imran Khan's Sons Interview?

The PCB, on Thursday, made a written complaint to Sky Sports after the broadcaster did an interview with Imran Khan’s sons Suleiman and Kasim Khan in the middle of the Pakistan vs England Test at Lord’s.

Given that Imran’s health condition has been in focus for some time now, coupled with he has been in prison for three years, PCB felt Sky Sports should not have asked the question to his sons, particularly because the subject was politically connected in Pakistan.

Former England captain Michael Atherton conducted the interview with Imran Khan’s sons for Sky Sports.

Just to confirm, Imran Khan was not only Pakistan’s greatest ever player and captain, but also their Prime Minister in the past.
