Hardik Pandya is known for being an individual who lets his bat and ball do the talking. Most of the times it led him to success, but considering the fact that India’s current head coach Gautam Gambhir is not someone who likes casual on-field behaviours, an incident on Sunday evening during India’s crucial T20 World Cup Super 8 match against South Africa, taking place at Narendra Modi Stadium, was bound to be viral in no time.

It all happened when South Africa won the toss in Ahmedabad and asked India to wait for a chase. Even though the Men in Blue were all over the Proteas during the Powerplay, a counterattacking approach from Dewald Brevis and David Miller kept them in the game.

Hardik Pandya vs Gautam Gambhir Out Of Nowhere

In the meantime, Hardik Pandya was seen having a discussion with Gautam Gambhir, who was sitting on the dugout. While Gambhir was caught delivering his thoughts in a serious tone, Hardik was in all smiles. No wonder Gambhir’s reaction after that was epic, making it viral on social media in no time.

Of course, it is still unknown what the topic of conversation was between Hardik and Gambhir; it can be assumed that it was related to bowling towards a particular batter. Hardik, who was in the news lately due to an off-field antics, seemed to prove his point, which did not please India’s head coach.

South Africa Showing No Mercy To India

Meanwhile, South Africa, who were 20/3 at one point, came back strongly against India. Even though they lost captain Aiden Markram, Quinton de Kock, and Ryan Rickelton early, Brevis and Miller made the the last edition’s T20 World Cup final rematch would not be a one-sided affair.

Tristan Stubbs kept on going as well, making 20 off 14 balls at the time of the writing, with Marco Jansen in the middle, on 2* off 5 balls.

Both India and South Africa came to this fixture having won all their games in the ongoing T20 World Cup. While India’s victories were against the USA, Namibia, Pakistan and the Netherlands, South Africa’s road to this match happened with victories over Canada, New Zealand, the UAE and a nail-biting double super over against Afghanistan.

Needless to say, India are highly favourites to win the T20 World Cup at home. More importantly, it is a very crucial assignment for Gambhir as well, particularly because of India’s dismal show in red-ball cricket under his tenure, which included home Test series defeats against New Zealand and South Africa.

Hardik, safe to say, is going to be one of the main men for India if they manage to defend the title at home.
