Delhi Capitals (DC) are hosting Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Match 35 of the ongoing IPL 2026 on Saturday at the iconic Arun Jaitley Stadium.

Delhi Capitals are coming into this match after suffering a heavy 47-run loss against Sunrisers Hyderabad in their previous game. Chasing a daunting target of 242 runs, Delhi struggled to keep up with the required run rate and eventually managed only 195.

Their innings got off to a poor start as Pathum Nissanka was dismissed early, putting pressure on the middle order.

Despite the setback, Nitish Rana showed some resistance with a well-made 57 runs, while Sameer Rizvi added 41 runs off 28 balls. However, their efforts were not enough to take the team close to victory.

On the other hand, Punjab Kings are riding high on confidence after a dominant 54-run victory over Lucknow Super Giants. Batting first in that match, Punjab posted an impressive total of 255 runs.

Their top order was in excellent form, with Cooper Connolly scoring 87 runs and Priyansh Arya playing a brilliant knock of 93. The team's aggressive approach put the opposition under pressure right from the start.

Punjab Kings remain the only unbeaten team in IPL 2026 so far, and they will be keen to continue their winning streak.

DC vs PBKS IPL 2026: Captains Thoughts

Shreyas Iyer (Punjab Kings Captain): "Yes, absolutely and I feel that it's important to stay in the moment especially when things are going right. Boys turned up pretty well. We had a few good sessions turning up to this game though it was scorching hot but still, no one yet complaints here.

(What's key to win games on the trot?) I feel that you just have to keep training harder. I keep telling my teammates as well that we need to inculcate the right habits in the dressing room and culture which we have been building well and touchwood it has been going great. We want to have fun along with each other.

(What would he have done had he won the toss?) No, I loved to bowl. I had a small discussion with Axar and he said that he was going to bat. So, I was happy that we are going to bowl. So, the toss was inconsequential.

(Changes?) We are going with the same team."

Axar Patel (Delhi Capitals captain): "(Decision and reasoning) We will bat first. The pitch looks dry and also, it is quite hot.We will score big and defend later. The pitch might get slower later. The bowlers might get help later on. We will try to make the most of it.

(On trying to get back to winning ways) We want to focus on ourselves. We have been playing good cricket, but we are not winning crucial moments. We have been making silly mistakes in the field or in our decision making. If we correct it, we will be on track.

(Team news) Same team."

DC vs PBKS IPL 2026: Impact Subs

Delhi Capitals - Karun Nair, Ashutosh Sharma, Vipraj Nigam, Auqib Nabi, Dushmantha Chameera

Punjab Kings - Nehal Wadhera, Vishnu Vinod, Suryansh Shedge, Harpreet Brar, Yash Thakur

Why is Mitchell Starc not included in DC's playing vs PBKS?

It is vital to note that, finally, the wait is over and Australia fast bowler Mitchell Starc has joined the Delhi Capitals camp. He missed the initial phase tournament due to a shoulder and elbow injury.

Starc had been under close watch by Cricket Australia, which delayed his participation until he was fit enough to play. Earlier this week, the board gave him permission to travel to India and join his IPL team.

Although Starc has now reached the camp and is getting used to the conditions, he is not fully match-ready yet. The team management expects him to be available for selection from May 1, when Delhi Capitals face Rajasthan Royals.
