Naseem Shah has been in the middle of controversies ever since his diabolical post on social media about Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. The pacer was punished on Monday for a now-deleted social media post which questioned Nawaz's presence at the opening match of the Pakistan Super League.

The tournament, which is now being played behind closed doors due to a geopolitical crisis, saw Maryam Nawaz as the chief guest in the downscaled opening ceremony. Commenting on her appearance, Naseem Shah found himself getting fined by Mohsin Naqvi's Pakistan Cricket Board for 20 million PKR or approximately US$71,488.

What Did Naseem Shah Do Against The PCB?

Shah breached multiple clauses of his central contract and social media guidelines after his post about Maryam Nawaz. He was issued a show-cause notice by the PCB, which is headed by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.

On Thursday, along with other dignitaries, Nawaz was invited to Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium and was introduced to officials of the franchises. Commenting on this incident, Shah wrote on X, “Why is she treated like the queen at Lords?” referring to Nawaz's presence at the stadium.

However, he deleted the post soon afterwards and later claimed that his account was hacked. While Naseem admitted that the post made on X was by his management team and does not reflect his views, he was presented in front of a three-member disciplinary committee on Monday and was found guilty.

Naseem Shah Leaves Practice After Punishment News

Recently, visuals have surfaced where Naseem, a shining prospect and a pace bowler of the newest franchise, Rawalpindiz camp, was seen being informed by officials at the training ground while he was bowling.

This might be a visual from Sunday night. Since Naseem Shah was training and practising at the Rawalpindiz camp, an official interrupted his session to inform him of something personal and private.

As soon as he heard the news, he immediately walked away from the camp. While ground assembly was taking place, as soon as news from Mohsin Naqvi was conveyed to him, he walked out of the ground, leaving his practice midway.

What Would Naseem Shah-less Rawalpindiz Look Like?

Shah's absence from the Rawalpindiz camp will be a big blow since he is one of the leading pace attackers in the tournament for the team. Alongside him, Mohammad Amir and young talent Fawad Ali are present as pace spearheads, with Amad Butt and Dian Forrester chipping in as handy pace options from the all-rounder category.

Notably, Naseem played one match for Rawalpindiz against Peshawar on March 28 and failed to take any wickets while conceding 51 runs at an economy rate of 12.75.

Hence, besides his disappointing outing and a massive penalty, Shah is also struggling with form. Rawalpindiz will next take the field on April 2 against Karachi Kings, and if Naseem Shah fails to return before that, the team will be in serious trouble.

So far, Rawalpindiz are at the bottom of the table along with Hyderabad Kingsmen, having yet to play their second game of PSL 2026. They will now hope to bounce back strongly, especially if Shah returns to the camp.
