Deepak Chahar fools Priyansh Arya in IPL 2026 [Source: X]
During the IPL 2026 clash between the Mumbai Indians and the Punjab Kings, Deepak Chahar won the mind game against Priyansh Arya by trapping him in a well-thought-out plan that worked like a charm in Dharamsala.
In the 58th clash of the tournament, MI had Jasprit Bumrah stepping up for the captaincy role as Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav missed the game. He won the toss and opted to field first.
Deepak Chahar gets Priyansh Arya with a magic delivery
Meanwhile, PBKS were off to a good start as opener Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh stitched a 50-run partnership. For the last over of the powerplay, Bumrah handed over the ball to Deepak Chahar.
Chahar played it smart as he bowled a deadly inswinging yorker from around the wicket. The ball tailed in sharply at high pace and almost crashed into the leg stump.
Priyansh was beaten badly and even moved his leg away to avoid getting hit. It somehow missed the stumps and ran away as four byes, which was unlucky for Chahar.
However, that ball planted doubt in Arya’s mind. On the very next delivery, Deepak Chahar used the exact same setup and action. But instead of pace, he rolled his fingers over the ball and bowled a slower knuckle ball.

Priyansh Arya expected another quick inswinger and tried to attack early with a lofted drive. But because the ball arrived slower than expected, he swung too soon.
The bat came down before the ball reached him, and it sneaked through to hit the leg stump. Moreover, the celebration explained everything as Deepak Chahar knew the previous ball had already set the batter up.
Shardul Thakur rattles PBKS
Meanwhile, after losing Priyansh Arya, Punjab Kings didn’t let the momentum slip. Prabhsimran Singh continued his onslaught, hitting a sublime half-century.
However, Shardul Thakur changed the tide in just one over. He dismissed Prabhsimran on 57 off 32 balls, followed by sending back captain Shreyas Iyer on 4 off 2 balls.
At 12 overs, PBKS had 111 runs on the board at the loss of 3 wickets, and the Mumbai Indians made a strong comeback into the game after the early onslaught.
Hardik, SKY absent for the Mumbai Indians
Meanwhile, the Mumbai Indians are playing their two key senior players, captain Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav, who didn’t travel with the team to Dharamsala, were unavailable for selection.

Hardik is nursing a back spasm injury and decided to stay back in Mumbai for rehabilitation under the guidance of MI’s medical team. This is the third straight game that Pandya has missed due to fitness issues.
On the other hand, Suryakumar Yadav was blessed with a baby girl last week, and hence, he decided to stay back with his family to spend some quality time. In the duo’s absence, Jasprit Bumrah made his debut as MI captain.
