Out of action, Virat Kohli looked in a happy mood on Monday with his family in the middle of his recovery from an injury ahead of the all-important tour of England later in July.
Currently, India is playing an ODI series against Afghanistan, and the legendary batter is missing it due to an injury that he suffered during the triumphant IPL campaign for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
Fans eager to see Kohli back in the blues
Right now, Virat Kohli is rehabilitating from the hamstring injury that he suffered during the final of IPL 2026 against the Gujarat Titans. He was initially named in the three-match ODI squad against Afghanistan before eventually getting ruled out alongside Hardik Pandya. He was replaced by Yashasvi Jaiswal in the squad.
As things stand, Kohli remains a part of the squad that will tour England for three ODI matches, but his availability is subject to how he recovers from the aforementioned soft tissue injury. Thankfully, India will play five T20Is from July 1 to 11 before the caravan moves to the ODIs from July 14.
Kohli is also chasing the hundred centuries alongside the World Cup 2027 dream, and these three ODIs will play a crucial part for both milestones.

Kohli enjoys quality time amidst injury
As India looks to seal the Afghanistan ODI series, some pictures of Virat Kohli and his family have gone viral on the internet.
He is seen giving Akaay, his two-year-old son, a piggyback ride and playing with him in what looks like a lush green garden. Kohli looks fresh and relaxed in the pictures, dressed up in a black hoodie and khaki trousers. In one of the pictures, Anushka was also speaking with some of their friends, who were together on the trip.
From the looks of it, thanks to this vacation in natural greenery, Kohli looked relaxed, and his recovery could be well on track as well. However, any official word on it is still awaited.
Kohli’s impeccable form since Test retirement
Since announcing his Test retirement in May 2025, Kohli has been out of action for long periods. He did not play a single match for India between March and October and subsequently got out on ducks in back-to-back ODIs.
Nonetheless, since the two ducks, he has not looked back and has been India’s top-scorer across formats, despite only playing 7 matches. He has scored three centuries and three fifties in 7 innings, scoring 616 runs at an average of 123.2 and a healthy ODI strike rate of 108.64.
Apart from international duty, he also did well for Delhi in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, and subsequently racked up 675 runs in 16 IPL 2026 innings, striking at 165.84. He was the fourth highest scorer of IPL 2026 and had five fifties and a century to his name as well.
