Ahead of RCB’s upcoming clash against LSG, uncertainty over star batter Virat Kohli still looms. Kohli didn’t field during the previous game against the Mumbai Indians held at the Wankhede Stadium.

The 37-year-old did bat in the first innings and played an anchor knock of 50 off 38 balls. However, in the second inning, Kohli watched the game from the dressing room and appeared unwell.

Virat Kohli spotted with a strapped leg

According to reports, Virat Kohli picked up a niggle on his left leg, and as a precautionary measure, he was rested for the second inning. Some rumours also claimed that Kohli was feeling unwell.

However, ahead of the RCB vs LSG clash, the star cricketer is back on his feet. He participated in the net practice session at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. However, Kohli had his left leg strapped with injury tape.

This clearly suggests that Virat Kohli is struggling with fitness. He is still carrying that niggle, yet completed his net session with the same determination and focus.

As of now, RCB have not issued any medical update related to Kohli. Captain Rajat Patidar was also unsure when asked about an update in the post-game press conference at Wankhede.

Hence, for now, Virat Kohli is very much available for selection for the upcoming RCB vs LSG game scheduled on April 15 at Bengaluru.

Virat Kohli’s form makes him a crucial key

That being said, Virat Kohli is in sizzling form in IPL 2026, which makes RCB even more nervous about the injury. In 4 games, he has scored 179 runs with a 59.67 average, a 162.73 strike rate and 2 half-centuries.

Not only that, Kohli is sixth in the Orange Cap race. So even a slight injury becomes a major talking point because of his impact.

Regardless, RCB’s batting lineup is much more balanced this year, with Rajat Patidar, Devdutt Padikkal, Phil Salt and Tim David being in excellent form.

While RCB are not overly dependent on Virat Kohli anymore, his absence will leave a void at the top order.

Kohli called out for a slow knock

Interestingly, Virat Kohli faced some backlash after his recent half-century against the Mumbai Indians. Commentator Aakash Chopra called it a ‘slow knock’, saying his innings lacked fluency and intent, especially in the middle overs.

Chopra even suggested that the two wasted reviews and the injury may have affected his mindset and rhythm.

"Virat Kohli actually scored very slow runs. If you look at it in the context of the match, you feel it doesn't matter as you won, but if you see it from the cricketing lens, it was a very slow knock. This kind of knock is unbecoming of this contest, and neither is it becoming of Virat," Chopra said on his YouTube video.

While RCB beat MI comfortably by 17 runs, Virat Kohli was caught in the crossfire for his slow strike rate in a game where RCB put 240 runs on the board.
