Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has been one of the biggest young talents India has discovered since IPL 2025. The Bihar-born batter has been on a glorious run ever since and is showing no signs of slowing down.

With several cricket experts and legends praising him, recently, Pakistan’s legendary wicketkeeper-batter Kamran Akmal opened up about the shining prospect of the 15-year-old.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi recently created another record when he smashed the third-fastest IPL fifty against Chennai Super Kings. His phenomenal form has also carried into IPL 2026 from the Under-19 World Cup 2026, where he averaged 62.71 at a massive strike rate of 169.50 across seven innings while representing India.

Sooryavanshi’s Phenomenal Form Since IPL 2025

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has a lot to build on following his rapid rise in cricket after debuting for Rajasthan Royals last year, where he averaged 36 at a blistering strike rate of 206.56, scoring one century and one half-century.

Since then, he has continued to impress in domestic cricket, including a 93-run knock against Meghalaya in the Ranji Trophy. In the Under-19 Asia Cup 2025, he maintained an average of 52.20 and also showed strong form in the Vijay Hazare Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. His rise has been remarkable so far.

Pakistan’s former cricketer Kamran Akmal believes this is just the beginning and feels that Sooryavanshi is ready for the international stage to represent India.

Kamran Akmal Backs Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s To Play For India

Speaking to GamePlan, Akmal praised how Sooryavanshi has been consistently breaking records and also discussed his potential pathway to the national team after IPL 2026.

“In just 8 IPL games, he has been piling records — he already has a hundred. I think in the coming international games for India, he will get a chance after IPL. He will become a young player of the T20 international team. He has proved himself in every place. If he continues to perform,he will definitely get the chance,” Akmal said on Gameplan.

Akmal On Vaibhav’s Maturity

Highlighting his game awareness, Akmal noted the maturity of the 15-year-old, stating that his presence of mind and understanding of situations have allowed him to outsmart bowlers. He also credited Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s family and coaches for their support during his journey.

“His presence of mind, game awareness, the way he plays — he has a counter to everything at such a young age. This is remarkable … We are discussing his performance more because it was a (low-scoring) match of 128. But his performance is visible because he scored 50 runs on 15 balls.

His family and his father should be proud — the way he has worked with him, the way the others too like coaches who have taught him in school cricket, in club cricket,” Kamran Akmal added.

On his future prospects, Akmal once again praised the youngster, suggesting that with such high expectations, he could become nearly unstoppable as he matures.

“I am afraid when he is 25, the bowlers will not know what to do with him,” Kamran Akmal concluded.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s Rise As A Star RR Opener

Sooryavanshi has emerged as a key prospect for the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League. Alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal, he forms a dangerous opening pair, providing explosive starts that put opponents under pressure early.

This was evident in the RR vs CSK clash, where chasing a target of 128, Sooryavanshi smashed a 15-ball fifty, effectively breaking Chennai’s momentum. With Yashasvi Jaiswal and Riyan Parag finishing the job, Rajasthan Royals secured an eight-wicket victory with nearly eight overs to spare.
