Prodigious batting talent Vaibhav Sooryavanshi played another blinder in the IPL 2026, as he blazed his way through to a belligerent cameo in Rajasthan Royals' third group-stage fixture against Mumbai Indians.

Led by Riyan Parag, Rajasthan Royals sustained their purple patch in the competition, securing their third consecutive victory in the tournament.

Batting first, the home team posted a massive total of 150 runs in the rain-affected contest. In response, Mumbai Indians lost crucial wickets at regular intervals, eventually losing the game by 27 runs.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi once again played a whirlwind knock, scoring 39 runs off just 14 balls. While he thoroughly entertained the spectators at the Barsapara Stadium, the Royals' fans had their hearts in the mouth when Sooryavanshi nearly sustained a nasty injury.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi survives massive injury scare in RR Vs MI

The incident occurred during the second over of Rajasthan Royals' innings. After Yashasvi Jaiswal smacked Deepak Chahar for 22 runs in the first over, MI captain Hardik Pandya introduced Jasprit Bumrah into the attack, wasting no time.

However, Bumrah's early introduction had little impact on Sooryavanshi, as the 15-year-old greeted him with a nonchalant six. He further went on to pull Bumrah's fourth ball disdainfully into the stands, showcasing incredible hitting abilities at such a young age.

Soon after dispatching Bumrah's fourth ball for a maximum, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi had a huge mix-up with his batting partner, Yashasvi Jaiswal. As Bumrah bowled a full-length delivery, the southpaw mistimed it, with the ball rolling towards the leg side.

The young opener sensed an opportunity for a single and wondered outside his crease for a fair bit of time before being denied for the run by Jaiswal. As he raced his way back to the striker's end, the throw missed the stumps, giving him an early lifeline.

However, as he had picked up some pace, Sooryavanshi was carried away by his momentum and tumbled awkwardly over the stumps.

He awkwardly fell down on the ground, giving the Rajasthan Royals an injury scare. But fortunately, the impact wasn't severe, and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi quickly recovered to face the next ball.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi lights up the IPL 2026

Hailed as the most exciting batting talent in the modern era, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi recently powered the Indian team to a historic under-19 World Cup triumph. He hammered a blistering century in the all-important final, showcasing his big-match temperament against England.

While his critics doubted whether he could pass the IPL challenge against talismanic fast bowlers like Bumrah, Boult or Siraj, Sooryavanshi silenced them through scintillating stroke-play.

He kicked off his IPL 2026 campaign with a 15-ball half-century against CSK before following it up with stunning cameos against the formidable bowling attacks of Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians.

The swashbuckling southpaw has already smashed 122 runs across three innings in the tournament at an average of 40.67 and a blistering strike rate of 248.98. Considering he's in red-hot form, Sooryavanshi is expected to shatter multiple records in the upcoming matches.
