India is in the middle of a revolution, sparked by a legion of angry students and opposition parties over this year's NEET paper leaks.
Expressing their anger and demanding accountability against the Indian government, hundreds (or maybe thousands) of students have been protesting in the nation’s capital over the past few days.
Former Indian cricketer and all-time great Sachin Tendulkar has now given his take on the matter, doing so at the height of this rebellion. Active Indian skipper Shubman Gill also posted a strongly worded post on his Instagram account.
Sachin Tendulkar reacts to nationwide student protests
On Thursday, July 23, Tendulkar took to his X account and expressed his first reaction to the nationwide student protests. The former Indian cricketer urged the entire country to “work together” to ensure that students are not put under a similar ordeal again.

He wrote “Today, when students feel disappointed that their hard work hasn’t been rewarded, it is understandable. Collectively, we should all work together towards ensuring they don’t feel this way again. Young India is full of dreams and energy. They are the fuel to our success. As a society, all of us, including parents, teachers, friends, relatives, schools, and administrators, have a massive responsibility and different roles to play in ensuring our youth remain encouraged and energised.”
Sachin Tendulkar’s past political comments on Indian government
Incidentally, this is not the first instance where Sachin Tendulkar has commented regarding a nationwide anti-Government movement.
A few years ago, the legendary Indian batter also spoke in favour of national sovereignty during the 2021 Indian farmer’s protest.
It is worth noting that Sachin Tendulkar was previously a member of the Rajya Sabha.
Shubman Gill backs students cause and education
Late in the day, India’s ODI and Test captain Shubman Gill also gave his take regarding the prevailing student and exam protests in the country.
The star Indian batter backed the cause of the students, and praised the protesters for “making their voice heard” nationwide.
Shubman Gill wrote, “As a young Indian, I believe our generation deserves every opportunity to learn, dream and shape the future we all aspire to. I have immense respect for every young person who believes in making their voice heard peacefully.”
CJP Protest continues to dominate national attention
The student protests, led by a satirical Cockroach Janta Party, continue to gain more traction with each passing day. Several Bollywood celebrities, opposition political leaders, cricketers and other athletes have already reacted to the nationwide protests.
Moreover, former Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria also gave his take on the matter. Taking to his social media account, Kaneria spoke in favour of the Indian government and urged protesters to stop abusing Hindu Gods in the name of exam protests.
The controversy erupted a few weeks ago in wake of the controversial paper leak of the nationwide NEET exams. While the exams were later rescheduled and was conducted smoothly all over the country, reportedly 20 students committed suicide over emotional distress and pressure surrounding the examination process.
The incident sparked widespread protests, with students demanding greater transparency, accountability, and reforms to ensure such lapses do not occur again.
Several opposition leaders have also pounced on the opportunity to target the ruling BJP government, accusing it of failing to safeguard the integrity of the examination process and demanding accountability from the authorities.
