The rivalry between Virat Kohli and Travis Head became one of the biggest talking points after the IPL 2026 match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). 

The controversy started after SRH defeated RCB by 55 runs on Friday night. At the end of the match, players from both teams walked toward each other for the usual handshakes. 

No Handshake Between Virat Kohli and Travis Head After Match

During this moment, Travis Head extended his hand toward Virat Kohli. However, Kohli walked past him without responding.

Interestingly, Kohli shook hands with several other SRH players, including captain Pat Cummins. Even so, he completely ignored Head. As a result, many viewers felt that there was some tension between the two star cricketers.

What Happened During SRH vs RCB Match?

Although the exact reason behind Kohli’s reaction is still unclear, many reports suggest that something happened while RCB was chasing the target. During Kohli’s short innings, there appeared to be verbal exchanges between him and Travis Head on the field.

According to reports, Kohli jokingly asked Head to bowl a few deliveries to him. This comment was reportedly linked to Head’s role as an impact substitute during several matches this season. Kohli also made gestures related to the “impact player” rule, which many fans believed was aimed at Head.

Even so, Kohli could not stay at the crease for long. He scored only 15 runs from 11 balls before losing his wicket. After Kohli got out, Travis Head reportedly responded with a sharp comment. He said, “Mate, you got out before I even came on to bowl.” As a result, the on-field banter appeared to continue even after the dismissal.

In addition, several users accused Kohli of showing poor sportsmanship after refusing the handshake. The criticism quickly became viral, with screenshots and videos spreading across social media platforms.
