Punjab Kings’ season is collapsing like a poorly built house of cards, and on Sunday evening in Dharamsala, Tim David twisted the knife with a celebration that was impossible to ignore.
With the final ball of the match, David safely pouched Azmatullah Omarzai’s catch at long-off to seal Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s massive 23-run win over Punjab Kings.
But instead of quietly joining his teammates, the Australian all-rounder turned towards the stands and broke into the famous “Jatt Gabru” celebration right in front of Punjab Kings co-owner Preity Zinta.
Tim David’s celebration steals the show
The moment came off the very last ball of the innings. Azmatullah Omarzai tried to go big, but the ball went straight to Tim David, who completed the catch calmly. What followed instantly lit up social media.
David pulled out the famous “Jatt Gabru” move, a celebration popular in kabaddi and often associated with Punjab athletes and cricketers.
Doing it in front of Preity Zinta made the moment even more dramatic. It was cheeky, bold, and guaranteed to get fans talking.

Could Tim David face a fine?
That is now the million-dollar question. The IPL has become increasingly strict when it comes to on-field gestures and celebrations. And Tim David is already on the radar.
Recently, he was fined 30 percent of his match fee and handed two demerit points for making an “obscene, offensive or insulting” gesture after RCB’s dramatic win over Mumbai Indians. Whether this latest celebration is deemed provocative remains to be seen.
RCB pile up 222 on the board
Earlier, RCB’s batters came out swinging. Virat Kohli continued his fine form with a fluent 58 off 37 balls.
Venkatesh Iyer played a superb unbeaten knock of 73 off 40 balls, while Tim David chipped in with a quickfire 28 off just 12 deliveries as RCB finished with a colossal 222/4.
Punjab Kings’ playoff hopes hanging by a thread
Punjab Kings’ chase never truly recovered after a horror start. They lost Priyansh Arya, Prabhsimran Singh and captain Shreyas Iyer inside the first four overs.
Although Shashank Singh fought hard with a blistering 56 off 27 balls, PBKS eventually finished on 199/8. The defeat was Punjab’s sixth on the trot.
After winning six of their first seven matches, they have completely lost the plot. Their playoff hopes are now hanging by the thinnest of threads.
RCB qualify for the playoffs
With this victory, RCB have bagged a playoffs spot with 18 points. Under stand-in captain Jitesh Sharma, Bengaluru looked sharp in all departments.
Batting clicked, bowlers held their nerve, fielders backed them up and Tim David provided the final mic-drop moment.
A celebration that will be remembered
Cricket is often a game of moments, and this one had all the ingredients. A crucial catch, a famous celebration and a stunned opposition owner.
Tim David’s “Jatt Gabru” move may or may not earn him another fine, but one thing is certain: it is surely going to become one of the most talked-about moments of IPL 2026.
