The defending champions, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), climbed to the top of the IPL 2026 points table by demolishing the Mumbai Indians, who were officially eliminated from the playoff race on Sunday.
RCB won a game, breaking a two-game losing streak, and players failed to hold back their emotions. Captain Rajat Paditar, Virat Kohli, and Krunal Pandya were even seen jumping in the air, while Tim David had a cold and savage reaction after the win.
The Australian big-hitter, a former MI blood, got out on a golden duck to Corbin Bosch, which twisted the game in Mumbai's favour, but Bhuvneshwar Kumar's cool like a cucumber approach sealed the game.
Tim David shows raw emotions targeted at MI management
After the RCB vs MI IPL 2026 match, Tim David was seen making an obscene gesture, allegedly showing his two middle fingers to the MI team management.
Meanwhile, the hard-hitter was dismissed for a golden duck on Sunday, bringing Mumbai back into the game as RCB lost two wickets in as many balls. However, as luck would have it, the defending champions won the last-ball nailbiter, with Raj Angad Bawa bowling poorly under pressure.

The Australian finisher was with MI for three seasons, but the two had a poor breakup when the five-time champions let him go despite having a good IPL 2023 season.
Re-birth of Tim David in IPL at RCB
Although Tim David had decent numbers for MI during his three-season stint, it was RCB who fully utilised his credentials as a finisher. In IPL 2025, the Australian big-hitter smacked 187 runs in nine outings at a whopping strike rate of 185.14.
David’s unreal hitting was a primary reason for RCB lifting its maiden trophy. Meanwhile, this season, he has bettered his numbers, scoring 232 runs in 10 innings at 196.61, playing a key role in RCB’s quest to defend the title.
Can BCCI ban Tim David for his obscene gesture?
For his actions, Tim David may face a fine, as his gesture falls under the Level 1 of the IPL Code of Conduct. However, he can't be banned until he receives four demerit points in a 36-month period.
"Article 2.6 includes, without limitation, obscene gestures which are not directed at another person. When assessing the seriousness of the breach, the following factors (without limitation) shall be taken into account: (i) the context of the particular situation; and (ii) whether the gesture is likely to: (a) be regarded as obscene; (b) give offence; or (c) insult another person," the IPL Code of Conduct states.
Match referee Amit Sharma didn't take any action against the RCB player. However, head coach Andy Flower faced sanctions for violating Level 1 of the IPL Code of Conduct for players and team officials.
Meanwhile, David has already faced a hefty fine and one demerit point for disobeying umpire instructions during MI vs RCB on April 12.
